“The compression rate in each cylinder of the 1.6-litre V6 hybrid turbo engines has been limited to a 16:1, down from 18:1 under the previous set of rules. But the current #rules, specifically Article C5.4.3 of the #regulations, say compression ratios will be tested "at ambient temperature". Mercedes is rumoured to have circumvented this rule by reportedly using materials that can expand in high temperatures, increasing the compression ratio of the engine, but will pass the inspection when cooled down.”
Thermal expansion of materials at high temps wasn’t in the rules. This is the kind of situation I can imagine AI will exploit: non specific rules in edge cases. 🤣☺️

He won Bathurst 1977 in an XC Falcon (pictured). In 1978, he drove the Cobra variant (like in the PMC), securing Pole position with a record time of 2:21.59 and a speed down Conrod strait of 159 mph, although ultimate forced to retire that race with a broken engine.

Bathurst is on today! That is Australian shorthand for saying that a 1000km street car race around the circuit of Mount Panorama at Bathurst in New South Wales, Australia.
What we have learned so far...
1. The Australian Air Force has a fleet of hot air balloons - Google it, I am not joking!
2. Australian wildlife is out early on track. We saw an official gently use a broom to nudge an echidna off the track
3. One of the cars has got really bad vibrations. Yesterday the driver was complaining about double vision caused by it. The team has given up on fixing it. Those drivers are going to have a tough day at the office today!
4. One of the drivers has a sore neck. Maybe a gentle drive in the country will help
5. Switch on to see some great commentary about driver warm-up and pit lane practice sessions -
#CarRacing fans, I took this one for you, which would be a few blocks away from my (possible) apartment at Daytona Beach. Satisfactory #apartment tour done. Application filled out. This is where it gets nervy, hoping I made a good decision. A one-bedroom, ground level with spacious kitchen and lots of storage space. I would be in an "upgrade." And a much better rate than my Orlando apartment, albeit it is 2-bedroom. Still, overall rates are better. Application approval forthcoming, I hope. #FL
