  3. Little wonder that Bernie was wary of (#IndyCar, as he called it) back in the 90s. These cars were beasts. Those of us who grew up watching in the 90s were truly lucky with CART and of that era.

    Spot-checks revealed that seven race horses were doped between mid-April and the end of May this year. Around 100 tests were made, sometimes on heavily backed beaten favourites. Two of the doped horses were steeplechasers, the other five flat racers.

    A bit more peace and quiet - this is what Britain needs the most. A committee looking into the problem concluded that mental health is not affected by excessive noise. However, sleep can be affected, and that is injurious to health. The committee recommended a crackdown on vehicle noise, aircraft noise and heavy industrial machinery noise. The noisiest part of Britain is around London Airport.

    Rumours are circulating that Christine Keeler, a central figure in the Profumo Scandal, was involved with a member of the Royal Family. The rumours mention Prince Philip by name. The Daily Mirror is able to announce today that these rumours are utterly unfounded.

    Five French customs officers swooped on 200 British trippers yesterday as they travelled to Boulogne. Their haul? One bingo table and a basket of coloured bingo balls. The trippers, mostly women, were warned that bingo is illegal in France.
