Happy third birthday to the first post on the site! Posted on the 24th July 2023. It is about a medallion of Saint Eligius: the patron saint of numismatics! Very fitting. The post itself is short, only 116 words if you include the title. The image description for the three images is longer! (at 128 words): https://coinofnote.com/saint-eligius-medallion/
The other post I have on the site about Saint Eligius has a little more on our patron: https://coinofnote.com/saint-eligius/

Ok who needs some #MondayMotivation? Even those of us for whom it is already Tuesday? Here are two #MondayMedal pieces you can take your pick from:
A) I can do it!
or, if jumping between cliffs seems a bit much for this early in the week, how about:
B) Self-care is essential.
Are you team A) or B) today? I'm going for A (but with B in my back pocket just in case)

This piece is nicely tactile, and has one of my favourite bible verses - indeed a favourite of many people: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, from Psalm 23.

Here are four religious medallions which all feature trees. "Rooted in Christ" and "Growing in Christ" are the themes. They feature quotes from Psalms, Deuteronomy, Colossians and 2 Peter. Which is your favourite?

I posted an erroneous Saint Benedict medallion the other day. Here is a better example.
The Saint Benedict Medallion is a traditional Catholic sacramental used for spiritual protection, warding off evil, and seeking physical or inner healing. Believers carry, wear, or place the medal in their homes to invite God's peace and as an outward reminder to resist temptation
The phrase around the saint reads ""May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death""
The text in the book translates to: "The Cross of the Holy Father Benedict". The initials for this, CSPB are in the reverse between the arms of the cross.
On the reverse, PAX means peace.
VRSNSMV is ""Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities!""
SMQLIVB is "What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!"On the cross, CSSML is ""May the Holy Cross be my light." and NDSMD is "Let not the dragon be my guide".

I have a few medallions with crosses on them, not so many with crucifix (a cross which also includes the body of Jesus). Here's one promoting faith, strength and courage, or, "8 can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (From Philippians 4:13)

Today is the 4th of May. While everyone has their "May the 4th be with you" memes (and yes, do show us your Star Wars coins please!) for firefighters, it is also the feast day of Saint Florian. Here is a piece I wrote on the Patron Saint of firefighters, and on firefighting in ancient Rome: https://coinofnote.com/st-florian-medallion/

On April 26 1986, Chernobyl nuclear reactor #4 exploded. 40 years later, the event is still one of the most distinctive events of its time. Here is a piece, I wrote on one of the medallions given to the "Liquidators" who helped clean up after the accident: https://coinofnote.com/1986-ukraine-chernobyl-liquidators-medal/
While writing this post I discovered the #ChornobylNotChernobyl hashtag from which I learnt "Chornobyl (Чорнобиль) is the correct Ukrainian spelling and transliteration, which is increasingly adopted to reflect Ukrainian identity and decolonize place names. Chernobyl (Чернобыль) is the Russian spelling, which was standard internationally during the Soviet era and remains common in Western media."

It's easy to read the news and despair, or to get mired in the struggles we all face - large and small. So, here is a #medallion with two bible quotes offering hope:
"I will give you rest" is from Matthew 11:28
The other side lists its own reference of John 16:33 and also offers hope from the tribulations of this world.I hope you are at peace, wherever you are.

Here is a piece which combines two interests of mine - a firefighter themed #medallion with a biblical message.
I've always loved the hymn "Here I am, Lord": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDdniihKBzI
Based off Isaiah 6:8: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Isaiah%206&version=NIV which, admittedly, has some challenging imagery - but the theme of giving ones self to the Lord to use to His purpose is certainly not an unfamiliar one.
