The phrase around the saint reads ""May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death""

The text in the book translates to: "The Cross of the Holy Father Benedict". The initials for this, CSPB are in the reverse between the arms of the cross.

On the reverse, PAX means peace.
VRSNSMV is ""Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities!""
SMQLIVB is "What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!"

On the cross, CSSML is ""May the Holy Cross be my light." and NDSMD is "Let not the dragon be my guide".

On April 26 1986, Chernobyl nuclear reactor #4 exploded. 40 years later, the event is still one of the most distinctive events of its time. As we come to the end of the Christmas season, celebrating the birth of Christ, here is a medallion featuring the reason Jesus came to us, from John 3:16. Let's take a couple of verses either side for more context:

John 3:14 "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."
