Hello! I'm eloly, a crafter and musician.
I like to design amigurumi or sometimes amigurumi-adjacent crochet sculptures. I'm inexperienced but enthusiastic about sewing and quilting; comfortable with knitting and crochet; and a shameless dabbler in rigid heddle weaving and a billion other things.
I play recorders and double bass.
I'm a huge fan of C.J. Cherryh, Lois McMaster Bujold, Tamsyn Muir.I haven't had much to do with social media platforms before, but I like the idea of the Fediverse. I'm excited to share some of my projects and see what other people are making.

Recorder students’ concert went really well! Everyone focussed and got through their pieces well and without great mishaps. And since it was mostly adult students, people organised chairs for the audience and music stands for themselves without needing supervision, which was a great help. Really grateful for having such lovely students, it was a nice afternoon! I’m exhausted though. :D

Then a recorder lesson and one more AT-lesson. After dinner rushed through two parts of Mozart op35 on bassoon, just before the recorder group arrived to practise for tomorrow’s students’ concert. It was not a boring day!

On the way to the center of town to teach recorder, I was apping with my sis and saying that I found it hard to concentrate on teaching with all the Easter concerts coming up.
Arrived at the first lesson and discovered that I'd left all my recorders at home.
The kids were amused, so that's something.

I received my Milestone 112 Ace today and I love it! It's a wonderful little recorder. But I have some questions for my fellow owners of this device.
1. What is the slot on the side of the machine? It is not mentioned in the manual. At first, I thought it was for some sort of memory card, but my full-sized sd card is too small, and it's too thin to accept a compact flash card. Is it a different type, or is it not a memory slot at all?
2. This one requires a bit of background. I owned the Eltrinex V12Pro recorder and loved it. One day, it simply stopped working. Unlike the Milestone, this one uses a standard AA battery, but none that I tried worked, and my computer wouldn't even recognise the device. I bought another of the same recorders and it eventually happened again. This also happened with my Plextalk Pocket. On both machines, once I set the time, it was remembered. On my Olympus DM-720 and DM-770, I must set the time whenever I insert a new battery. Both have been working for a few years now with no problems. So I am guessing that it was some kind of cmos battery that failed on the other machines. My new Milestone has the optional clock installed. Will it eventually do the same thing?
3. All rechargeable batteries eventually die permenantly, and before that, they deteriorate enough that normal use becomes impossible. When this happens, can I send my unit to Bones (the manufacturer) to have it replaced?
4. I really like the built-in microphone. But out of curiosity, what sort would work with the Milestone if I wanted to use an external one? I am not an audiophile and don't need one that costs hundreds of dollars. I am thinking of a simple omnidirectional lapel microphone. Der ungarische #BRG MK 27, ab 1977 auch in die #DDR importiert & hier nur unter dem Namen #UBoot bekannt. Grund dafür war das eigenwillige #Design mit spritzwassergeschütztem Gehäuse & Kassettenfachscheibe im Stil eines #Seerohr Visiers. Der #Recorder aus den #Budapester Radiowerken besitzt ein einmotoriges Laufwerk, einen AW-Anschluss & einen 0,5W #Lautsprecher, jedoch weder ein integriertes Mikrofon noch ein 230V-Netzteil.

Discovered today that apparently I can read tenor clef on bass recorder. A student was playing a sonata by Barsanti (and told me she had become a fan, yay a covert!), and I was accompanying by playing the bass line on a basset. Suddenly one slow movement was all in tenor clef, eek.
But while playing it I realized that of course I play tenor clef on bassoon all the time. Now bassoon fingerings in tenor register aren't the same as recorder fingerings, but apparently I have also learned to associate the notes with their names by now. Hadn't realized that had happened!
Only problem was that every now and then the bass line would go too low and i'd have the feeling that I didn't have enough recorder in my hands to keep playing. Suddenly transposing an octave up in tenor clef is clearly one step too far for now!
