So who to root for in IndyCar? I'm a McLaren man, so is it the orange cars? Maybe my countrymen Felix and Marcus?

The latest race Felix raced in a Greateful Dead car! Suddenly it became easy. Considering he and I share a hometown, even more of a connection. Go Felix! Go!

Sadly, it didn't end on the top step, put at least on the podium!

They even played some Grateful Dead music as the went into the first ad section. Sweet.

Next time I go to a race, I’m definitely going to figure out how to make it as comfortable as possible. Portland International Raceway provides essentially no way to escape the heat or sun. It was still fun, but there has to be a more pleasant way. #IndyCar #F1

Man, I am fucked up from the IndyCar race this weekend. In retrospect, I would have dropped by for an hour or two on Friday to check out the paddock and get merch, watched practice at home, and just shown up for qualifying and the race. #IndyCar

One thing I noticed watching the Portland #Indycar race on Fox was that while the high-dollar grandstands looked 90 percent full, the much larger general admission stands on front straight were MAYBE 30 percent full. Way more aluminum showing than butts in seats.

I am not surprised. I know the city and its people quite well, and racing just isn't high on the public's list.

They'd much rather go on a naked bike ride. Lots of free spirits up there, many are creatives I dearly love.

As part of my, um, let's call it "research" into #Indycar #racing, I am going to tune in to the Fox broadcast of the race today at Portland Int'l Raceway up in Portlandia.

I know the track well. Covered an Indycar race for National Speed Sport News one year way back in the day. At the time, NSSN was THE premier racing newspaper.

I've also been there as a spectator, but all you can see from the grandstands is the front straight, turn one chicane and not much else.

Should be better on the TV.

Interesting to hear the commentary team calling a complete divebomb a "good move"

I really wonder if the #Indycar garage knows something about VeeKay we don't. Dude has done incredible things at ECR, Coyne, and Juncos Hollinger, constantly overperforming the expectations of that lower budget equipment. And yet every big team constantly skips over him every year.

Like I wonder if he's known behind the scenes to be toxic or unpredictable or something like that, because lord knows if I was a big team I would have picked him up YEARS ago.

Watched the #ARCA race from last night this morning which put me in a racing mood but without a race on today until 5 PM, so I'm sitting here watching the 2000 CART (Indycar) street race on the classic Vancouver course. Kid me would have been happy with this race cause I was a big fan of the Team Green KOOL cigarette cars and Dario Franchitti and Paul Tracy have run 1-2 for half this race from the start.

Of course, I now know what a right-wing, racist piece of shit Paul Tracy is and can recognize in old races that he sometimes drove like a bully or maniac so I'm not a fan, but young me liked his spiked hair nu metal aesthetics.

of all the current open-wheel championships, the new #IndyCar looks to be the most appealing series to watch.

I am not a fan of the upcoming Gen 4 #FE because of the looks and the latest #F1 cars because of how they perform

Dreyer & Reinbold going back full time is neat, I always root for them to do well in the one race (Indy 500) they entered every year and they are one of the few teams still around who have deep roots in the old IRL series (though I was more of a CART fan).

RLL doesn't need to be 3 teams, they need to take that money and effort and invest it in making just two cars actually regularly competitive. What good is a three car team if they are always running in the back of the field?
