Watching the Champ Car race at Montreal in 2003, and whenever I watch old CART/Champ Car races my biggest takeaway is just that Paul Tracy was a dangerous maniac behind the wheel most of the time even if he was very fast.

Tomorrow my son and I are headed out to Monterey to watch the finale of this season of #IndyCar at Laguna Seca.
We are both so stoked as it's our favorite track and it'll be the first time we will both see it in person!

They love talking about Caio Collet on the #Indycar broadcasts like he's the most talented young guy in the sport despite both his teammate and the leading rookie outperforming him considerably and him having a pretty typical pay driver rookie seasons in 23rd (of 25 full time drivers) in points.
Frankly, if Alessandro de Tullio driving for the Indy NXT team could bring a similar amount of sponsorship funding as Caio, I'd absolutely make the switch cause de Tullio has so much natural speed and has looked so good as just a rookie this year.

Watched the #ARCA race from last night this morning which put me in a racing mood but without a race on today until 5 PM, so I'm sitting here watching the 2000 CART (Indycar) street race on the classic Vancouver course. Kid me would have been happy with this race cause I was a big fan of the Team Green KOOL cigarette cars and Dario Franchitti and Paul Tracy have run 1-2 for half this race from the start.
Of course, I now know what a right-wing, racist piece of shit Paul Tracy is and can recognize in old races that he sometimes drove like a bully or maniac so I'm not a fan, but young me liked his spiked hair nu metal aesthetics.

I love a classic street race. Whenever I picking out an old #Indycar race on YouTube, more often than not I'm going to pick something like Long Beach, Cleveland, Toronto, Belle Isle, Surfers Paradise. Despite the fact that they were VERY high attrition races back then when the cars were so much less reliable on rough and bumpy surfaces

Nobody had quite the completely negative amount of sex appeal that Bobby Rahal had in the 80s and 90s. How that man convinced a woman to have children with him is beyond me. I'm watching the very high attrition Surfers Paradise CART race from 1996, Greg Moore's rookie year.

I'm surprised that Louis Foster couldn't find a more competitive ride for Lime Rock, he may not be the most prestigious person in Indycar racing but he's still like a major league driver, I think that warrants at least a Niece ride if he's avoiding Toyota due to being a Honda guy.
But still, I'm into it. I love when Indycar drivers or IMSA drivers come try out their skills in stock car racing even if not in particularly good teams.

Always trying to recruit racing nerds who have a Telegram account or are willing to make one to join my racing chat so that isn't mostly just me going on hours long rants every weekend with only one or two other people participating and my non-racing friends forced to watch. Hit me up if you want to join, I've love for anybody to who enjoys any kind of motorsports to join. Hell, I even talk about motorcycle, boat racing, and drag racing in there.

Apparently MSR are interested in Caio Collet. The kid has a TON of sponsorship backing from his auto racing obsessed home country, so I imagine several teams are interested.
He's shown moments of real speed this year, but he's also 23rd in points of 25 full timers so I think he's hyped up too much by people thinking he's a rising star. When you're battling with Mick Schumacher and Sting Ray Robb in points, I'm not gonna be THAT impressed but I do think he has more promise than your typical well monied driver.

Enzo Fittipaldi kind of lucked into the Indy NXT win this year, his second in his rookie campaign. However, that doesn't mean he isn't a damn good driver, outside of an incident in one race he's finished in the top 4 in every other event. Given how much sponsorship money might want to associate themselves with a Fittipaldi with promise, I could absolutely see him hooking up with a team like Juncos-Hollinger or Coyne who are not unfriendly to drivers that bring a solid budget behind them.
He was smart to follow the example of Dennis Hauger and run a year in Indy NXT from F2 instead of trying to jump straight into an #indycar because it is developing him for these types of cars and making all the car owners out there see just how promising his talents are rather than blindly jumping into the top level and hoping for the best.
