I struggle in workplaces not because I’m incompetent, but because I’m too competent.
I’m a threat to people who don’t do the work.Still, everything’s going to be alright. I’m building something.I’ve had this feeling before.
The same one that took me from $2k to $100k in crypto. Last night I cashed a poker tournament and 111111 showed up in my chips.
A new journey. I’ll make it out alive. I always do. Let’s go.

The Massachusetts Primary Election will be on September 1, 2026. Sen. Ed Markey, who at 80-years-old should have retired, is trying to get elected for another six years. His opponent in the Democratic Party primary election is Rep. Seth Moulton, a 47-year-old moderate:

SOURCE: PSYPOST.ORG** Research quality varies widely from fantastic to small exploratory studies. Please check research methods when conclusions are very important to you. **
-------------------------------------------------TITLE: People prefer psychotherapists with attractive faces, study finds
URL: https://www.psypost.org/people-prefer-psychotherapists-with-attractive-faces-study-finds/
A recent study asking participants to choose psychotherapists from a mockup of a professional therapist directory found that they are more likely to choose therapists with more attractive faces, even when trustworthiness and competence were controlled for. Profiles with unattractive faces and those with no profile pictures were equally likely to be chosen. The paper was published in Psychotherapy Research.
Selecting a psychotherapist is a complex but important decision influenced by multiple factors. It is rarely based on professional qualifications alone. People tend to also consider the therapist’s approach, cost, location, age, sex, clothing, and even physical appearance. These judgments typically begin before the first conversation, particularly when therapists are selected through online profiles containing little more than a photograph and a brief description.
Because faces attract attention and rapidly generate impressions, prospective clients may infer qualities such as competence, warmth, morality, and trustworthiness from facial features. Attractive therapists may benefit from a “beautiful is good” halo effect, in which a favorable judgment of appearance influences evaluations of unrelated professional qualities. Such first impressions may also shape how later information is interpreted, especially when people feel uncertain about whether an unfamiliar therapist will understand their problems.
Study author Antonio Olivera-La Rosa and his colleagues note that it appears that patients may use the psychotherapist’s facial appearance as a source of information to assess his/her suitability. This tendency to rely on facial cues may be particularly pronounced when selecting a psychotherapist from online directories. Study authors were particularly interested in finding out whether psychotherapists with attractive faces are more likely to be selected.
They also wanted to know how the likelihood of being chosen with an attractive face compares to the likelihood of being chosen when the profile does not have a profile picture. In other words, they wanted to know whether the effect of attractiveness is a preference for attractive faces or avoidance of unattractive ones. Finally, study authors examined whether clients’ and therapists’ sex and sexual preferences moderate the effects of facial attractiveness.
Participants were 108 university students from Colombia and Peru, from different study levels, recruited through internal emails and social networking. Their average age was 32 years. 63 of them were women. 14% of participants reported being currently in psychotherapy and 55% reported having undergone psychotherapy in the past.
Study authors selected 32 photos of faces from the 10k US Adult Faces Database. Half of the faces were female, half were male. The selected faces were either categorized as attractive or unattractive, in equal numbers. All faces displayed friendly expressions. All faces were chosen to signal average trustworthiness (thereby controlling any effects trustworthiness might have on participants’ decisions). Study authors conducted a small pilot study to assign ages to the faces.
Study authors used these photos to create a mockup of an online directory of psychotherapists. Each profile mockup featured one of the photos presented as a photo of a therapist, his/her name, professional role, sex, age, and a competence score operationalized as patients’ star ratings. There were also profiles without a profile picture. Profiles created in this way were used in the experiment.
At the start of the experiment, participants reported their demographic information and sexual preferences (“To what extent you’re sexually attracted to men”; “To what extent you’re sexually attracted to women”). Participants were then shown the profiles described above and asked to indicate how likely they were to choose each of the shown psychotherapists.
The psychotherapist profiles were divided based on competence (low-high number of stars) and attractiveness (attractive, unattractive, or without a profile picture). After rating all the profiles, participants completed an assessment of their attitude towards mental health treatment (the Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Short Form Scale).
Results showed that psychotherapist profiles with attractive facial pictures were more likely to be chosen, even when their perceived competence (number of stars) was controlled for. There were no differences in the likelihood of being chosen between profiles with unattractive pictures and profiles with no profile pictures, indicating that the effect observed is a preference for attractive faces, not avoidance of unattractive ones. Neither the therapists’ nor the patients’ gender and sexual preferences moderated the observed effect.
“The findings suggest that the preference for attractiveness in therapist selection is not driven by mating intentions nor by a “halo effect” related to trustworthiness or competence,” study authors concluded.
The study contributes to the scientific understanding of the factors affecting clients’ choice of psychotherapists. However, it should be noted that the study relied on a hypothetical decision-making design rather than observing actual therapist selection. Furthermore, the sample primarily consisted of university students from Colombia and Peru, which may limit the generalizability of the findings.
Additionally, the participants were not actively seeking help for a mental health problem. Under these conditions, therapist competence or perceived ability to address a specific problem may have played a smaller role in participants’ choices. Results for individuals in real-life settings actively making final selections for a specific mental health or life problem might differ.
The paper, “Facial attractiveness increases the likelihood of choosing a psychotherapist, irrespective of sexual preferences and perceived trustworthiness,” was authored by Antonio Olivera-La Rosa, Alessandro Ansani, Marco Viola, and Marco Marini.

In the past, some Anglo Masto users were agitated more so than usual at the mention of #Ai skill levels. The OECD framework has standardised competency levels.
As applied to AI, these translate as;
L0 – Emerging: Can use AI only with significant guidance; struggles to assess outputs or formulate effective requests.
L1 – Basic: Uses AI for simple questions and routine tasks.
L2 – Functional: Uses AI independently for everyday work and learning.
L3 – Competent: Evaluates AI outputs critically and applies domain knowledge.
L4 – Advanced: Uses AI for complex analysis, problem-solving, and workflow design.
L5 – Expert: Creates AI-driven systems, methodologies, and strategic solutions while understanding limitations and risks.
Most, if not all #Aihaters fall into Leve 0 or Level 1 at best. It's not an insult. It's a statement of fact. You can't have competency in something you hate.
Using AI is a learned skill.
If you are unskilled, your competency is zero to low.

Abschied aber kein Lebewohl – A farewell, but not goodbye forever
(English below)
On Whit Monday, 25 May 2026, two farewells took place during the service at our St Concordia Church in Ruhla.
In a solemn ceremony, the cantor-catechist was first bid farewell. She had worked with children and families for 20 years and was also responsible for church music. However, after retiring 25 years ago, she continued to play the organ for another quarter of a century at church services, weddings, funerals and other occasions. The superintendent of the church district expressed his heartfelt thanks to her and paid tribute to her dedication. The second farewell was for Pastor Reuther, who is retiring at the end of June 2026 after 22 years of service in Ruhla.
Even though his ministry in Ruhla is coming to an end, this does not mean the end of the education project in Rwanda! The Ecumenical One World Circle will continue to exist and will carry on the project in the usual way. What is more, Pastor Reuther will remain a member of the One World Circle and will continue to lead the project. Both retirees had asked the visitors and guests at the farewell service to refrain from bringing gifts and instead to make a donation. They had specified two causes for this. One of these was our education project in Rwanda, and we are grateful for all the donations totalling around 800 euros that were made to our Rwanda project.

Rückblick und Ausblick zum (Un)Ruhestand – A look back and a look ahead at active retirement
(English below)
After more than 40 years, the time has come: I am retiring soon. But the work of the Ecumenical One World Circle on our educational project in Rwanda continues!
I will remain a member of the One World Circle and continue to lead the project.
Nevertheless, this turning point has been an opportunity to look back and also to look ahead. I had the chance to give a longer interview on the radio (Das Ruanda Projekt, author: Djuana Mannel – in German only) and I invite you to listen to it via this link, in case you understand German. The musical interludes have been removed from this podcast. The full programme, featuring songs by our sponsored children, will be repeated on Wartburg Radio on the following dates: 12 May, 10.00–11.15 am; 16 May, 3.00–4.15 pm; 18 May, 4.00–5.15 pm (German only)Translated with http://www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Grundschüler – Kinderrechte – Weltgebetstag – Primary school pupils – Children’s rights – World Day of Prayer
(English below)
At the beginning of March, the Protestant Primary School in Eisenach organised a project week to mark the annual World Day of Prayer. We received the following brief report from the headteacher:„As part of our project week for the World Day of Prayer, the children at our Protestant Primary School in Eisenach organised a special service centred on community, responsibility and global learning. The focus was on children from Nigeria, Rwanda and many other parts of the world.
The pupils engaged intensively with the topic of children’s rights. Issues such as the right to clean water, education and leisure were not only explored theoretically, but also reflected upon creatively and personally. It became clear just how different children’s living conditions are around the world – and at the same time, how much we can learn from one another. It was particularly important to the children to take a positive and appreciative view of the lives of their peers in other countries. They discovered commonalities, developed an understanding of differences and recognised how valuable solidarity and mutual support are.
The lovingly organised service at St Anne’s Church (in Eisenach) provided a space for thoughts, prayers and contributions from the children, who expressed their impressions and insights in a variety of ways. The collection of 228 euros taken during the service will go towards the sponsorship programme in Rwanda, supporting our sponsored child Dina and other children on their journey towards a self-determined life.“
