  1. Video wound up being mostly wind noise, but just walked by a little house in downtown Santa Fe blasting Dolly Parton.

  2. Infinite Lawsuits Continue in New Mexico Against Meta

The lawsuit DDOS is continuing against Meta with at least one additional obviously frivolous lawsuit against Meta.

  4. Fort Wingate was established in the 1860s during U.S. military campaigns to subjugate the Diné people in New Mexico and Arizona. Under military orders, troops utilized scorched-earth tactics across the region, destroying Navajo homes, livestock, and crops to force surrender. This devastation culminated in the harrowing Long Walk, where the U.S. Army forced thousands of Navajo men, women, and children on a brutal 300- mile trek to the barren internment camp at Bosque Redondo.

  5. Morning rain showers are not how I’m used to waking up in #NewMexico, but it is darned pleasant with all the windows open to let in the cool night air!

  6. Our dog is a little mad at us for leaving her in #NewMexico while we were in Baltimore packing up the house, so I think she needs a little trip of her own. Seems like the perfect opportunity to try out the Bavarian restaurant in the Taos Ski Valley, and let her enjoy her Rottweiler roots as an alpine cattle driver (ideally without any actual cattle, she’s scared of them).

  7. TIL: you have to derate the continuous current and voltage of circuit breakers (among other things) at altitudes above 2000 m. This likely explains why my 50A breaker at 2064 m tripped despite not exceeding the continuous current rating of 40A on a hot day.

I will still have a professional electrician take a look at it to be safe, but adjusting my max load down a couple amps should do the trick. #NewMexico

  10. As a former journalist & someone who's been involved in startups, I can tell you it takes serious work to do what Damien Willis & Organ Mountain News did here: organmountainnews.com/southern

To do a community listening / deep dive while you're also going to community events, town halls, putting out breaking news, and having real conversations with your community, that's an accomplishment worth celebrating

  14. Another view of the Jemez Box last week. Someone has placed a rickety ladder on the top stage of the waterfall. It caught our attention since we've been trying to make a connection from here to Las Conchas, upstream. It's a long way and personally, I think it's unlikely, but two of our group are convinced it's doable. Thunder and lightning interrupted our ideas of trying to get up to the ladder this time, and we hightailed it back down the creek.

  15. New Mexico: "...numerous companies have acquired uranium properties and plan to explore and develop deposits in the district in the future. The Grants district is probably 7th in total world production behind East Germany, Athabasca Basin in Canada, Australia, South Africa, Russia, and Kazakhstan."

  16. In the second of two Sunday night orders, the New Mexico Supreme Court called a temporary halt to the state’s authorization of a new water well supporting construction of Project Jupiter, the data center campus under construction in Santa Teresa.
