After a solid wall of grey for the first half of the flight, the weather finally broke towards Anchorage. I got no clearance for Anchorage International in the small Cirrus, so I treated myself to a low pass over the city and put her down at Merrill Field.

Always following the Pacific coast, I continue heading north. The region is already quite rugged and sparsely populated. The airports here have to struggle with their own unique problems:

Continuing the glacier watching with a flight over the Malaspina Glacier: this ice mass covers an area of about 2,500 to 4,000 km² (depending on how you measure). This is three to four times the size of Berlin, Germany 😲

Today (and tomorrow) it's all about watching glaciers! The exciting thing is that we're now so far north that the glaciers go all the way down to the sea.
The Cirrus SR22 has a large windshield which provides a nice field of view – perfect for today's tour.

Did you know Juneau is Alaska’s capital? I totally didn’t: had my money on Anchorage 😳 Never too old to learn something new!

What a dramatic light today! At least for the first half of the flight. After that, it got hazier and darker with much less contrasts.
Stewart Aerodrome is approached visually and sits in a valley, so there’s not much room for the turn after the downwind. The Vision Jet probably isn’t one of the usual aircrafts seen here ;-)

Finally made it back to my home base at #Eugene, #Oregon Mahlon Sweet Field (KEUG) in my #Xplane #flightsim #Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet after a nice tour of the #EU where I visited the #UK, #Denmark, #Austria, #France and #Italy.
Headed for the barn here at FL280 over the Three Sisters in the #Cascades Wilderness of the #PNW.
I can report that there was no shortage of virtual Jet-A over there. Real Jet-A? Good luck with that here in a few weeks.
