Low-cost LED technology helps archaeologists see hidden layers before excavation
A low-cost imaging system using 16 wavelengths of light could help archaeologists spot hidden layers and materials before excavation removes them. Researchers from Aarhus University and Moesgaard Museum in Denmark developed the LED multispectral imaging system, or LEDMSI, to reveal differences missed by normal color images...

Just a preliminary report on the test pits they did last year (including two in our garden). They're still working on the findings, full report to follow.

Wondering (not really asking—I'll find it) where the page is to send corrections to the OED. Its entries for Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic all say the Stone Age is divided into those three. The Stone Age entry, on the other hand, says it's divided into Palaeolithic and Neolithic. (Maybe it's less up to date than the other three?)

Bronze Age bowl barrow on Upper Hollesley Common, Suffolk. These are the most numerous type of round barrow and up to 10,000 recorded nationally and no doubt many more lost. This area is rich in archaeological remains, with the famous Sutton Hoo nearby and several other bowl barrows. Not to mention the UFO’s in Rendlesham Forest. #history #bronzeage #archeology
