Wow, the vast majority got this wrong. Even among fedi folks who are probably way above normie news media literacy. Shows how effective the intentional misframing has been.
phones are completely unusable and natalie is a cognito-hazard

since i'm starting to work on fedi related software, i'd like to gauge opinions - are you happy with the social network you're currently using? are you happy with the app you're currently using?

crazy cool to see the opinions and takes from giants in threads like these. feels nice just learning cool new things, and that almost in real time :)

I want to hear about your favourite song, the new band you discovered, the new documentary that taught you something, and possibly even see your new highly advanced memes. I find out new stuff and meet cool new people on Fedi everyday. 😻
If you post a bare link to, say, a YouTube video with no thumbnail, no title, and no alt text I will not learn about your new favourite thing 😿 and my life will not be enriched and I can't go buy the album 🙇🏻♀️ ... because I do not activate bare links ( and do not think anyone should). So please, if you are plugging or sharing something you like, write a few words, copy the title as text into your message and yes: Alt Text and Content Warnings where appropriate ... TIA, HTH, usw.
Ok, time for some recap, with context.
I have been on the dating apps lately, and they are awful. Just wretched. There is the insinuation that they are that way deliberately, to maintain their income stream, but theories like that are outside the scope of my little survey.
There was one trick question on the survey: “No, I’m not attracted to trans women”. Surprise, trans women are women. If you can’t see that, we don’t want you date you anyway, so well done self-identifying!
“No, I’m not attracted to women” is very clear.
“Yes, absolutely”: i should have surveyed some more questions, such as “are you on the apps?” and “Are you open to dating?” Because qualitatively Fedi is so much better than the apps for interaction.
I know it’s difficult out there, trying to find attraction, romance, sex. Everyone i know who’s playing the field seems to be struggling, no matter their interest. But once again, male-attracted trans women feel relegated to being the on-the-DL fetish or hookup, and straight men still have the privilege.
Maybe I’m just reacting to the world of dating after many years in monogamy. But fucking hell fellas, you just have to be sweet. A few compliments, being happy to see us … is that too much to ask? Is it really that shameful to be seen in public with us?
Anyone/everyone, comments are open. Restrict the visibility of your replies as you see fit.
A lot of folks are having to deal with the php2shell issue in their infrastructure right now, and Nico Kruger has some advice on how you can check if your infrastructure is impacted, and how to roll out the patched packages:
1. Upgrade all PHP packages together.
2. Restart workers after patches.
3. Roll out in waves, noop first.

#TimeTravelAuthors 23. Any monsters in your story?
Monsters are not a paradigm I use. Readers may or may not consider youkai, onryo, etc. as monsters. It strikes me as a very human-centric way of viewing things. There are humans and than there are monsters.
I don't think of the lapin as monsters, but they could be considered as such.
Q. T. McFly (Part 3)
FanFic #TimeAndTied by @QuasiTemporal #Wss366 #Shoal #TimeTravelAuthors Whatever
After a minute, Ms. McFly set her pen down, covered the paperwork so no one could see it, and finally smiled at the pair. “How can I help you two?”
Lucky showed Ms. McFly a book. “Frances was reading ‘The Time Machine’ and was assigned to do a report on it. We started talking about how it would be neat to discuss how time-travel would work, and we thought of asking you.”
“Oh, I’m flattered. Thank you for thinking of me.” Then, with more enthusiasm, the teacher said, “When you’re done, you must let me read it!”
Frances gave Lucky a dirty look and muttered, “Gee, thanks. Thrown upon the shoals of essay writing.” Then, loud enough for Ms. McFly to hear, she said, “We would love to have your thoughts. We couldn’t find any information in the library.”
“Hum,” she replied. “There’s not much detail in the book, but you should find what you can. After all, it’s your report. But I would be happy to help with general information on how time works. There are several theories, including single timeline and multiverse versions…”
“...personally, I favor the idea that if it’s possible to change the past, you eventually end up with a chronology where time-travel remains undiscovered...”
“Oh dear, I hope I haven’t bored you to tears.”
The two did appear a little stunned by the information overload.
Lucky rallied himself and asked, “What about if a person obtains an item in the present and takes it to the future, then brings it back so they can find it? You know, sort of, create it through time-travel shenanigans.”
“Well, in a multiverse model, that’s not a problem because they’re not really the same timeline. In fact, they only appear to be the same people. The only question is where the item that started the causation chain originated, but that’s one of those chicken-or-egg type mysteries. In a single chronology hypothesis, however, you have a paradox.”
Frances joined the discussion, saying, “So say if I came from next week and put that chili chocolate in your pumpkin, that would prove there was a multiverse? “
“That would be the simplest explanation,” the teacher responded. She reached out and rummaged through her candy. “How exciting! Chocolate from the future.”
