  2. The colonialist entity  » israel » killed two Christian women in Gaza despite the ceasefire.

Maysa Abu Daoud and her daughter, Mary al-Najjar, were among the five Palestinians killed in an attack that struck the ground floor of a building in the Rimal neighbourhood, in what constitutes another zionist violation of the US-brokered ceasefire with Hamas. Both women belonged to the small Christian community in the Gaza Strip and devoted their time to helping parishioners and displaced people sheltering at the Holy Family Church, according to the Palestinian Presidential Higher Committee for Church Affairs.

The zionist army did not deny the attack. It stated that it had carried out the overnight strike with the aim of assassinating Ali al-Amoudi, whom Hamas sources identify as the head of its political office in Gaza. On Monday, Hamas announced that al-Amoudi had survived the assassination attempt. The outcome was, as so often, civilians killed beneath the rubble of a residential building.

The most harrowing testimony came from the victims’ own family. Fouad al-Najjar, the 14-year-old grandson and son of the victims, stated: “The occupation makes no distinction between a Christian and a Muslim.” He added that almost every household in Gaza has a martyr or someone who has been wounded. The funeral was held on Saturday at Saint Porphyrius Church in Gaza City.

The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, expressed his “profound sorrow and grief” over the deaths of the two women and offered his condolences to their families. From Doha, Hamas political bureau chief Khalil al-Hayya sent a message to Archbishop Alexios, emphasising that Palestinian Christians are an integral part of the Palestinian people, their identity and their civilisation. “Their pain and suffering are ours,” he wrote.

The Christian community in the Gaza Strip, one of the oldest in the world, has been systematically decimated. Since the beginning of the zionist aggression, 62 Christians have been killed in Gaza, an enormous figure for a population consisting of only a few hundred families. The attack brings to mind the October 2023 bombing of the Greek Orthodox Saint Porphyrius Church, which left at least 18 people dead among those seeking refuge inside the church.

The figures behind what is presented as a supposed ceasefire are telling:

Since the truce in October last year, 1,415 Palestinians have been killed in zionist attacks in Gaza. The total number of martyrs since 2023 has risen to 74,237, while Gaza’s Ministry of Health has reported that the number of women killed has reached 11,900.

Meanwhile, the zionist occupation regime’s aggressive expansionism has continued unabated throughout Palestine.

As it also pursues the de facto annexation of the West Bank, in Gaza the occupying regime withdrew to the so-called “Yellow Line” as part of the October 2025 agreement. Since then, however, it has expanded its control over Gaza from 53 per cent to more than 60 per cent.
