  1. I started working on an essay called "Three fundamental disagreements with the tradition", re Marxism. the three are fetishism, barbarism, cannibalism. More personal than theoretical, or sort of in-between.

So last night i got to reading the anthropology book from which Marx took the concept of fetishism for his famous commodity fetishism, Du cultes des dieux fétiches (1760) by Charles de Brosses, which is about black spirituality in West Africa. Wow, no surprises but it is a steaming pile of racist, white supremacist, colonialist trash... Such "anthropology" is inseparable from European slave traders in Africa, who coined the term, and their perspectives on Black spirituality and the Black societies they were dismantling through human pillage and trade. The irony is that that pillage plays a major role in the development of the wealth that will in Marx's time make the commodity-form so dominant in Europe's commercial centres. Understanding such a transition should be mandatory for any historical materialist...

  2. OK, fedi.

I was listening to Maxine by Donald Fagen, and I realized, surely, without a doubt, someone has come up with the name Marxine. Right?

Or is it already a thing from way before Karl?

    Boosts appreciated.

Marxine and Marximillian are both pretty funny. Marximillian sounds like some sort of Bourgeous anti-Bourgeois double agent.

  4. Happy birthday, Karl #Marx! You would have loved the ever-growing capitalist contradictions without a resolution.

  6. A Karl Marx
    (5 maggio 1818 - 14 marzo 1883)

    Precaria la vita,
    come l’amore.
    Pure la rivoluzione
    è diventata un distinguo,
    per troppe anime belle.

    Ma la lotta è aria,
    che respira di cielo.
    Nulla può rendere migliore
    il mondo,
se non il lento, incessante, vitale
    ripetersi della storia.

Di pugni chiusi che reclamano giustizia.
Di bandiere rosse che inneggiano alla rivolta.

  10. Flower Power — I Have Revisited the 60s

    Many recognize and acknowledge

    The enigma that he is

    Knowing he is an enigma

    Is not quite the same

As knowing what the enigma is

Some things are not menat to be understood

But merely loved, either from near

    Or from afar

    Do not try to probe

    There is nothing underneath

    That is the enigma

    How things issue

    From that emptiness

    Where neither identity resides

    Nor any residue of time

    Spontaneity itself is charmed

    By this enigmatic man

Who is not quite a man

    Though walking around

    Almost aimlessly

    In the woman’s world

    But still remaining

    That guy in khakhi knickers

    And of course sneakers

    Which boy Brinda Karat

    Addressed so endearingly

And the little comrade not yet 17

    Remembers to this day

    And that proved to him

    Communists are the real deal

Throw in Che into the mix

    And his world is complete

The compass has landed in his lap

And now he will not get lost

    In our adult world

    As he goes around

    With his peculiar look

That sees right through to your bones

And can tell what is ailing you

    This bloke called Samudrala

    Vamshi Krishna, in whose name

    Rama does not belong

As those girls he flirts with

    Would testify

    And I am slowly learning

    To flirt with him myself

    Though sometimes I get confused

    Who is playing whom.

    2. There are arguments against #capitalism with zero reference to Marxism. Such arguments for #anticapitalism have been developed in modern terms by David Ellerman. Here is a PBS article introducing his argument for #WorkerCooperatives :

Aber in #Bernau am #Chiemsee wurde die Feier von Pfarrer abgesetzt, weil sie „die Lehre der Kirche verdunkelt“.

What a long name. Does not sound at all
    Like the name of someone
    Who belongs to the proletariat
Their names will be Pullaiah and Yellaiah
    Yours sounds far too sophisticated
As sophisticated as your accent, almost like a Brit
You say you have bruxism and what not
But your accent lives on, on and on...
Making people give you a second hearing
While at 62 I am searching for my second wind...

And your gonads have not yet started firing
Were you crazy then to be stopping by
Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Bagh Lingampally
Where that Reddy girl taking courses in statistics
Was getting distracted by you, but you were never by her
And you stuck to your guns, pretty appropriate metaphor
Since Marx and Guevara interested you so much
No skirt or some peculiar shade of lipstick
Could hold your attention for long...

Being a Naxalite appealed to you as your svadharma
Long, long ago, and when I discovered you
You were the more sauve urban naxal, so I blocked you
Lest I the guy interested more in Maharshi than Marx
Be picked up at midnight, because the smokin' gun
Of Marxian literature was plenty on my bookshelf
I who believed that the stream of truth flows
From all sources and not just from some blokes
Doing something somewhere in the Himalayas.

Then, you texted me after a long while, saying
You were now more moderate in your views
Kind of a rare conversion, maybe Rosa Luxemborg
Started appealing to you more than Lenin
And that writer of The Motorcycle Diaries
Though Che never left your bedside and your dreams.

Nowadays, you are more into studying material girls
Rather than dialectical materialism, so tell me
Where in your heart have you created a cemetery
Where you have interred Marx though not Che.

But, my dear chum, or should I call you comrade
Listen to me dyed in the whispers down the centuries
Not only of the topography including the Himalayas
But also including Thames, Seine, and Black Forest
Marx was good as far as what he wanted man to be
But in what man was now in the present
He misread him so badly that his idealism
Was bound to come a cropper, though not before
Bloody revolutions meted out the karma
To all those people who erred in their previous lives
When they took birth long before Marx was born
Including maybe the likes of Alexander Solzhenistyn
For karma is backed by God, not some floundering startup
Ah, it satisfies me so much to end with this imagery
From Capitalism, and make Marx stir in his grave
And rethink his philosophy at least when he is reborn
And become an opium addict to discover newer realities.

  24. #Bernie #lefism #marx #socialism #uspol
youtu.be/syW8GoRGSyk THIS is what I couldn't get through the heads of Berners who were in disbelief that he could lose, and that the liberals didn't want him in their party. As of 2016 or 2018 I can't remember, around 15% of all Americans considered themselves some form of leftists and 52% of Americans were leftphobic. Those numbers have changed over time but no where near enough. With late stage capitalism bending us over every chance it can get robbing us blind, more and more people are learning class consciousness in their own ways. However this video is still solid in understanding the average American mind. Until we can figure how to communicate our ideas better, its a massive uphill battle. So many leftists are so far in their won bubble its the Russian leftists who tried to go to teach the peasants about marxism and refused to treat them like real people, and pretty much disposed and looked down on this. This persisted even under Lenin, otherwise the farm collectives would have been run much more like the industrial sector where people got benefits for working harder as apposed to the farmers, leading to famine and starvation. Its an uphill battle. Just for clarification, my personal political beliefs are that we should have a multiparty system where the social democrats are the most right wing conservative party. No one, including Marx himself, knows how to fully mitigate the problems discussed in his critiques of capitalism, anyone who does is not realistic or understand how complex human societies are.
