I wrote this post mostly for Bluesky since standard.site is an #atproto thing, but:
1. There's no reason not to implement standard.site on your blog even if you're not an atproto person. #posse
2. The sentiment of gratitude at the end is equally as true for #fediverse technology.

The Programmer’s Fulcrum 21 August, 2026
This post originally appeared on The Fulcrum. Welcome to this week's The Programmer's Fulcrum. It's your weekly curation of the essential news in the Open Media Network and Open Social development communities with a focus on devastating big tech via Techno Anarchism. As usual, we aim to provide actionable content you can use to destroy Techno Feudalism each week. It has the additional benefit of weakening authoritarianism. unless i’m understanding this wrong, with #atproto permissioned data (spaces), as the content isn’t being indexed in any AppViews or anything similar, does this lower the bar extremely for creating new apps? they can just talk to the PDS now? (prev not really recommended for higher scale apps)

I have an important announcement to make. A number of third-party Swift packages have joined The ATProtoKit Project family:
- OAuthenticator
- Jot
- ATResolve.

:ablobfoxbongohyper: to testando os dados privados (ou melhor dizendo, permissionados) no #atproto na conta @spaces.vicwalker.dev.br (não está com bridgy fed ligada pois a conta deve ser apagada após o alpha)
- Anúncio do Bluesky PBC: https://atproto.com/blog/atproto-spaces-alpha

I'm a big fan of Sill, a service that connects to your Mastodon account in read-only mode (and your ATProto account, if you're so inclined), and then sends you a daily newsletter with popular links! (i.e. that had lots of reboosts among your follows)
Now that's my beloved free software :blobcat:

I am going to demo my journal editor to som (link below). The links get appended. We're talking about how Obsidian and Automerge and atproto could be best friends.

My #Swiftlang #ATProto API library, ATProtoKit, has been updated to 0.34.0.
This update finally adds beta support for OAuth. It’s been a long time coming.

I'm now reachable in the fediverse, the matrix and the atmosphere.
(respectively activitypub, matrix, and atproto)
LoRa users, what say you? The frequency? The mesh?
Something else that's not a noun and make it uniquely identifiable?

Agendada a próxima live sobre #atproto, dessa vez sobre blogs e standard.site! Finalizando comigo escrevendo o próximo tutorial do meu #blog ao vivo.

[atenção, a live irá ocorrer ou no sábado ou no domingo, observe atualizações no evento]

Shipped! Jetstream 🛩️ is in the Python SDK.
Server-side filtering so you only get what you asked for, dict-zstd for ~65% less bandwidth, and full network replay: snapshot() and replay() sweep the archive and cut over to the live tail with no gap or duplicate.

I finally read Dan Abramov's "Social Filesystem" that I had in my reading list since January - super long, but great stuff 👏 Explains how you can think of #ATProto records, lexicons and repos as files, file formats and directories, and "reinvents" everything from the basic underlying ideas.

Last week I’ve been working on optimizing some lower-level data decoding code in my #Ruby libraries for #ATProto, with the help of my bot buddy which turned out to be surprisingly good at identifying good areas to optimize in the profiling output.
I wrote a bit about this in a blog post here (partly for myself to have some notes left from this work): https://lab.mackuba.eu/3mtc4fwdzvc22 #rubylang

I'm reading about AT Protocol, and it reminded me of Solid and the concept of PODs. Couldn't an atproto PDS (Personal Data Server) be able to connect to a Solid POD? You would allow the PDS to fetch some data (which would become public, relayed through atproto), while the rest of the data remains private.
- Solid POD: keeps all your data
- atproto PDS: can access a subset of your data (public data)
- the rest of atproto works as usual
