While I still think #atproto is a great architecture (and love how tangled.org is developing), I can't help but notice how much #Bluesky interactions seem to orbit around a few hundred popular accounts while Mastodon always had this eye level feeling to me where everyone interacts with everyone.

In ATProto news, W Social users are confused thinking that they're only able to talk to other ID-verified W Social users, except that W Social was forked from Bluesky meaning they're able to talk to everyone else on the protocol, and they don't like it lol.

Skill issue on W Social's part IMO, given that Eurosky and Blacksky have been able to convert non-techy people to use their infrastructure, lol.

A while back Bluesky got the trademark for ATProto and a few tech weirdos on Hacker News were going on about how bad this was (despite the fact other large-scale projects in the FOSS world doing this, such as Linux, Python, and Firefox) and how this is another reason ATProto sucks or w/e

Well, some guy is trying to trademark "Fursona" despite its common use in furry fandom lingo. It's under final rejection, but still - Bluesky did what they did to shoo off potential trademark trolls. Same for those other three projects.

I released a new #atproto project last night. https://lexidraw.app! An Excalidraw fork that lets you save and sync your drawings to your Atmosphere account along with having the ability for peer to peer real time encrypted collaborative work with https://iroh.computer(not on atproto).

Since @eurosky.social appeared, I started using a bit more the #ATProto and it's not bad. What I like the most is being in control of the handle via DNS. And thinking about it, I don't see any technical impediments, it should be possible in the #fediverse as well. A brief search and indeed, there's a FEP.

Hopefully we get to see something like this in the future.

After an exhaustive and exhausting search to understand everything informed and objective that has been said about scaling and scalability of #activitypub and #atproto decentralized #socialnetworks the result is rather disappointing: The issue doesn't seem to be well defined to start with. There are many hidden (and varying) assumptions about what the target "global network" looks like, what functionality it must guarantee. It seems the squabbles are political, not technical in nature...

The stats are typical analytics rn, but the goal is to help devs make sure their games are showing up where they expect!

For example, having your action horror game show up in a friendslop feed would be UNexpected, so I want that info surfaced for devs.

Happy to answer any questions you might have. The plc is always a hot one. We do have read only replicas, I have one running in a server rack at my house at https://plc.wafflehouse.dev. It feeds from an upstream one, like the main one from https://plc.directory

I guess it really depends on the meaning of decentralized and what counts. The organization of it is/has moved to a Swiss association more on that here

They seem like an ok organisation and I'm rooting for them, but it's a bit sad if they're only strengthening the power of Bluesky and encourage more centralization that way. And maybe Bluesky will have to enshittify their network at some time to satisfy investors?

Always hated that I could never answer the question "Well how many accounts has https://pdsmoover.com migrated?" for my #atproto accoun migration tool. My guess is probably north of 5k at this point, maybe more, maybe less. But after last weeks release I can say it has migrated 34 accounts in the last 7 days.

In addition it is also backing up 3,447 different identities so if their PDS ever goes away or turns evil users can create a new account with all their posts, pictures, likes, and followers/followings just like nothing ever happenedaccount.

@aral @_elena @EUCommission I wonder if the shareholders were aware that #WSocial have not bothered to implement the entire #ATProto stack, incl. "labeling" (aka the moderation layer)? If you only self-host your PDS, of course you'll remain by default under the jurisdiction of bsky moderators. #Blacksky for eg. have already implemented their own "labeling", so W has no excuse.
