  1. #WordWeavers 6. What is considered completely normal in your story's world that would seem bizarre to us?

Nothing. If we consider it bizarre, so do they.

Sumika turned and advanced toward me.

“Awwk!” I squawked. I was terrified by the look on her face.

“You, you, moron!” She shouted, raising the board.

I took off, but I was unused to my damaged tail and misjudged my flight path, colliding with a skull. The two of us, the fruit and I, tumbled to the floor. All the while, the creatures laughed hysterically at my plight.

I dashed for the far exit as skulls fell all around me. Behind me, Mistress shrieked, “What are those!?” Sumika’s running footsteps followed momentarily as she joined me on the new flight of stairs where I had landed.

“What a #parade of horrors!” she exclaimed.

“You said it, Whackum,” I responded.

In fact, it might be best if I didn’t try summoning things at all. I didn’t want to become a #ghost or fade out of existence.

“Noo goo,” Weena repeated, sitting me down on the brick wall I’d built. She scampered off and soon returned with a brick in one hand, which she added to the wall. In her other hand, she held something that reminded me of a yellow coconut someone had opened. She offered me a drink from it.

It was flavored like coconut too, only maybe a little sweeter and slightly alcoholic. It was like a pina colada shandy, and it #ranked as one of the best things I’d ever tasted.

The drink’s mildness might have been deceptive, though. When I was done, I felt glowy, warm, and much better.

Weena pointed to the wall and waited.

I gave her a thumbs-up. She hesitated and then returned the gesture. I made the sign again and said, “Good,” which she repeated with more confidence, echoing my words.

It didn’t take me long to find a brick in the leaves under the rhodies. This time, I pointed to the figures I had drawn, put the brick on the wall while motioning toward the Great Hall. Lastly, I shrugged and tapped the figures again. We’d both been using full-hand shrugs to indicate questioning.

Her forehead furrowed, then she touched my drawing and pointed toward the northeast. “Woozaar,” she said.

“Woozar,” I repeated, gesturing in the same direction. I clasped my hands together and made a motion as if I were sleeping.

    She gave me a thumbs-up.

    “Pay dirt,” I thought.
