  1. The problem with me now being able to upload either native QTK or DHGR with to 640by480.com is that I have a hard time deciding which to choose. Especially since I can't see the actual color on the Apple II.

I chose to upload this one in color because it was so badly contrasted that the cat was almost invisible, even with auto-leveling.

  2. Ah, yes, another riveting tale of how the Apple II "revolutionized" classrooms, as if 1980s teachers were eagerly awaiting a beige box to transform their chalkboard empires into digital utopias 📚➕💻. Because, obviously, what every #classroom needed was a spreadsheet program to finally master the "art" of teaching. 🙄🎓🍎

  3. Going to try to get a personalized license plate of "D5AAB5"

(it takes 30 days or so, so I'll be also transferring my old plate since this time, unlike last time I registered a car, I have my shit together ;o)

  4. Taipan! is a turn-based strategy game that was ported to the Apple II in 1982.
I played it on our Apple II and it was one of the earliest strategy games I had ever played. I remember really loving the strategic elements of the game.

  5. Passport turns 10 this year (technically July 12). Time flies when you're cracking.

  10. So I was trying Mouse Calc for the first time on my Apple IIe - looks fine for mid-80s spreadsheet software - but the most interesting part is a weird failure mode when quitting: the normally monochrome text was light gray instead of white and there were multiple areas with background colors. I knew that some modes on Apple's RGB card allowed text colors, but I didn't know until now that my Taxan RGB card could also do it.

I'm having second thoughts about selling my CGA monitor as this effect is neat.

  14. So, #SixForty is going to be a smallish, easy project with multiple goals: it's been a while since I want to make a picture-oriented, kind of social network client on the #AppleII. But after the Mastodon project, I don't really fancy handling 20 api endpoints and entities and json selectors etc. So a client for 640by480.com fits the bill as its API is simple, plus I like the vibe of the website.
It will allow me to take pleasure in easy coding here and there, give me patience when I wait for components for my hardware stuff, and should provide me with one or two side quests.
I'm going to have fun !

  19. Interestingly, my Taxan 410-64 RGB card passes the RamWorks 1 tests (well, at least it does for 64K).

Edit: the lack of errors is impressive considering it's all MT RAM from 1983
