Removing all files from #googledrive seems not to be easy. It is very finicky and does not send over all files e.g. .exe files. Really nasty project removing all stuff from googledrive : time consuming and annoying. Any tips welcome... am using #rclone but that is no picnic....filenames with accents seem not to land well an my linux end... if copying files reliably off a cloud storage is so hard, how hard must be real computing tasks! Okay, what #NextCloud providers can you recommend which have a proven track record for reliability? That is to say, they _shouldn't_ have multiple day outages with no updates, like my current provider does.

I'm looking at a free tier to test it out, but if I am satisfied with the performance I might eventually use it instead of #GoogleDrive (and switch to paid tiers).

My #NextCloud provider (kai.nl.tab.digital) has been down since at least Friday.

I have to admit, this is giving me second thoughts about migrating away from #GoogleDrive .

I think I may have asked this before, but does anyone know of a way to access shared Google Drive folders directly from Finder on macOS without having to open the Google Drive web interface? I’m specifically looking for a way to browse and work with shared folders as if they were regular folders in Finder.

The only workaround I know of right now is adding a shortcut to the shared folder, which I usually do through the Google Drive app on my phone. Once I do that, it shows up in Finder. I’m wondering if there’s a better or more direct way to access shared folders.

Sprawdziliśmy na własnych kontach i możemy oficjalnie potwierdzić – nowość działa już w Polsce! Google postanowiło zagrać na nosie konkurencji i bez żadnych podwyżek cen, z dnia na dzień, zwiększyło pojemność chmury dla subskrybentów planu Google AI Pro o 150 %. Limit podniesiono z 2 TB do 5 TB.

Więcej miejsca, cena bez zmian

One of my big suspicions regarding my laptop previous to its latest recent fatal crash was that Google Drive auto-sync has been interfering with my laptop battery & sleep management. So one of my big hesitation right now is whether or not to install again the Google Drive auto-sync daemon/app on my freshly reformatted/reinstalled Windows 10 system.

Without auto-sync I would of course have to manually back-up my files at a regular & consistent schedule, using calendar reminders etc.

I am going to keep using Google Drive though, regardless, for my off-site file backup. I find it very valuable that someone could (knock-on-wood) steal and/or physically destroy my laptop and I could still download most if not all of my most impotant files & data from the cloud down into my new laptop. So far I already pay around US$10.00 per year for 200 gigabytes of space, paid yearly, and with my current unemployment status that's right about at the limit of what I can manage/afford to pay.

Ideally of course I'd rather have a multi-terabyte NAS backup solution with offline mirroring like what's offered by Synology or other similar providers, but that's neither here nor there now is it. Or maybe at least one of the one terabyte offers from any of the big cloud storage providers (Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, NextCloud etc.)
