Yesterday was SO exciting! I actually did #github stuff for the 1st time ever: learned what 'forking' was and what 'commits' are!
Using https://github.com/abuseofnotation/feed-aggregator I merged my #RSS feeds (so far I've got #Dreamwidth #Masto #Raindrop & put them into my #Neocities. The crowd in my head is going WILD right now!
I used #Perplexity to help me along. Wondering if, in an ironic twist, ppl will use #AI for #IndieWeb endeavors like this rejecting #BigTech...

Aun es cutre y con enlaces rotos pero ya he empezado mi #digitalGarden en #neocities con #quartz los textos son mios, #NoIA aunque hay mucho copia y pega de una página a otra aun :( lo de usar el componente para música de #strudel ha sido mu complicado, la documentación de #quartz supone que sabes mucho mas de componentes que lo que yo sé, que ando todo el día con código legacy y aun lo de pause / play va regular, la css tampoco es gran cosa...
Estoy mayor y oxidado 😓

Probs a weird question, but, if you're on Neocities and your page has a header and sidebars that should show up on every page, how do you do that with just HTML, CSS and JS? Do you fetch the reused parts with JS and attach them to the DOM (this is what I currently do, but I really don't like it)? Do you hardcode the wrapping on every page? Have these limits affected how you designed your page? Does you page work without JS?

#AskFedi i want to ask what blogging platform you like. i don't want anything complicated, but i'd like the ability to make my own pages, like a links page. though this isn't a necessity.
i've already been playing with write.as, it's fine. i'm considering the subscription, but i'm not sold and i want to know what other people think.

I wrote a blog post with my findings about searching for #RSS feeds through my now familiar online neighborhoods. It includes templates for each platform mentioned as well as a resource for extracting feeds from sites that without native support.

Anyone know of a guide on how to migrate a Build Awesome (11ty) site to Forgejo from GitHub? I somehow got stuck on the SSH auth setup last I tried 😭 I may just need to try again with fresh eyes.

Ok so my #indieWeb plans to use #Dreamwidth for blogging, my #neocities as a less frequently updated collection or archive of art, presentations, 3D designs, vids, etc. Spent a lot of time this evening fashioning my DW to match my site's aesthetic. Really looking forward to this now!
It's motivated me to revisit my choice for using #GoogleSheets & #notion for publishable charts & databases & web bookmarks tho. Any beloved free alternative recs for those things? (Remember #delicious? 🤌😭)

Off from #AdultESOL this weekend --- between terms --- but my class is full! Can't wait to start working with this new group of wonderful students.
Proctored SAT testing yesterday. Always not fun, but at least the computer version guides the students with timing and I don't have to watch the clock as closely.

Aside from the "who are these people", it's an interesting commentary on how search engines (and AI) basically have made a lot of Internet content impossible to find and access, especially with mass blocking. I had a website which was an authoritative one, which frequently was getting copied and where spam copies were showing up higher ranked (where sometimes my site would never show up at all).... it's way, way worse now with AI.
