I like to go where angles fear to dread. It is a hard job but no one has to do it ... Unless the AI #Borg have taken over. Maybe they did whilst I was waking/moulting.
I am glad my #desktop was ready-built, I would have gone #madder building it. The agony was hard enough getting an OS working. Anyway ... I have some leads on potential server software and MAY (heaven help me) try setting up hosted server space in the UK (pronounced yuck without the why). I tried this once, and ran hosted Tooting website in the past.
As a wer-lobster I am cack handed, which used to be illegal and is now part of #obscure lingustic wrong speech. So I am #wondering why I would want to open a server to see if I can connect a DVD drive? Have a feeling the server only accepts #SATA drives ... and hard drives at that ...
I was just booting into #Puppy #Linux. An Olde version and also the latest #community edition to turn a #USB #wifi #connection on (I am using the #ethernet connection for the #Ryzen3 server and this tiny USB connector was so cute). 🫠 That looks like a major felafal.

There are systems still around where grantpt and unlockpt are important. On #NetBSD with certain options set they are not actually no-ops. They are definitely not no-ops on #Illumos-based operating systems, where (for starters) STREAMS stuff happens on pseudo-terminal front-end devices.
