Meines Wissens hat #Startpage die besten Datenschutzbedingungen? Davon hört man aber sehr selten. Weder hier und noch weniger in der Öffentlichkeit.
Ich nutze es schon als es noch Ixquick hieß.

When you enable Daily Images as Start Page background images in Vivaldi, you’ll be treated with a new wallpaper every day. If there’s a picture that catches your eye and you want to see more works from the same author, check the image credits.

To view more images from the same author:

• On desktop, look in the bottom right corner of the Start Page and click on the author’s name.
• On Android and iOS, open the Customize menu (from the button at the bottom of the Start Page or from the 3-dot menu in the top right corner of the Start Page). Tap on the author’s name below the setting.

For the past few days, I’ve been trying to use #Qwant as my search engine. I say "trying" because there are increasingly excessive checks to verify that I’m human. These rely on external services that happen to be on ad-blocker blacklists, so they fail to run.

I’ll probably end up going back to #Startpage.

It’s a real shame how the #Internet is deteriorating and being crippled by #greed.

Seit einigen Tagen versuche ich #Qwant als Suchmaschine zu nutzen. "Versuche" deshalb, weil dort immer exzessivere Prüfungen stattfinden, ob ich ein Mensch bin. Dafür werden aber externe Dienste beansprucht, die sich wiederum in Sperrlisten von Werbe-Blockern befinden, somit nicht ausgeführt werden.

Werde ich wohl zu #Startpage zurückkehren.

Wirklich schade, wie das #Internet verkommt und von der #Gier verkrüppelt wird.

Yes. I started doing that, and then I thought: bugger it why should l have to check this every time I update the damned thing. That’s what got me on to #LibreWolf (Firefox made safe and light) with the #StartPage home page/search engine. I also use the #DuckDuckGo #Browser on my #iPad (still uses #Bing search engine) because it is safer and also lighter, it also has a YouTube viewer that cuts out all the BS you get from watching vids in YouTube as well.

That said, I still go through the settings of these two every now and then just in case they get caught up in the #Enshitification circus.

Choose whether to display Speed Dials with or without titles.

Speed Dials in Vivaldi allow you to quickly access your favorite websites from the Start Page. On desktop you can customize Speed Dials to display the title or not, or only show it when you hover over the Speed Dial.

To pick your preferred Speed Dial look:

1. Go to Settings > Start Page > Speed Dial > Speed Dial Appearance.

After jumping around FOSS/-ish search providers for a while, and most recently encountering issues with Qwant and Startpage because I started using a VPN, I stumbled upon Uruky (https://uruky.com/) and decided to give it a try as the first time a payed for a search engine!

Startpage seems to be having an outage. It looks up but everything I search says there are no results. I compared vs DuckDuckGo in case my queries were excessively weird but DDG had results.
