This year, the apricots bloomed early, only to have a cold snap kill the blossoms.
One apricot tree has zero fruit, the second has one lone apricot, tree #3 has a few pounds.No pears either.
The cherry tree did okay but lost a branch in a storm, and birds got much of its fruit.
So, we'll have primarily strawberry and pineapple guava as well as madrone and pomegranate this year.

Two recently released dystopian thrillers are outstanding movies and both are available via streaming services.
Mercy (2026)
Source: imdb.comReleased earlier this year, Mercy is a tremendously interesting and entertaining science fiction movie — despite what the critics may say. In fact, the reviews and ratings by viewers of the film are much, much higher than those of the critics.
Rebecca Ferguson and Chris Pratt are tremendous in their respective roles – Ms. Ferguson as the AI generated Judge Maddox of the Mercy Capital Court and Mr. Pratt as a police officer accused of murder. He has exactly 90 minutes to prove his innocence sufficiently to AI Judge Maddox (a threshold below 92 percent likelihood of guilt) or be summarily executed.
Mr. Pratt must prove his innocence while his arms and legs are locked into the execution chair by employing all sorts of evidence gathering techniques that access the court’s ties to the municipal cloud. All technological devices within the city (LA) must be registered to the municipal cloud so defendants can access them. This includes surveillance cameras, live action feeds, cell phones, databases, and other technologies available. He can do this by use of a small hand screen or through voice requests to the cloud and/or AI Judge Maddox.
You will definitely be on the edge of your set while watching Mercy!

Released to theaters in 2025, Relay is thoroughly entertaining movie and unique in its story/use of an older technology as the conduit to protect whistleblowers who are being tormented by those entities they called out or implicated.
Relay stars Lily James and Riz Ahmed, who both excel in this film. Lily James plays a whistleblower who is being harassed by powerful corporation that she has dirt on. Meanwhile, Mr. Ahmed play the fixer who uses old-fashion TTY (teletypewriter) relay service to communicate with his clients (the whistleblowers) and to those who are harassing them.

Mr. Ahmed’s use of old-fashioned TTY technology makes his communications virtually untraceable. That premise alone makes Relay highly engaging, truly groundbreaking, and a definite must see!

My senior year at UCLA, I was a Marching Band member at the Rose Bowl & I witnessed one of the greatest miracles in UCLA sports history.
We'd lost to the Trojans with Troy Aikman, Bret Johnson, Tommy Maddox & then, against #15 USC, the Bruin's 5th string walk-on QB, John Barnes, connects for 3 TDs with J.J. Stokes to win 38-37.
I still get choked up remembering that game.

He called it Operation Rolling Thunder. The campaign would rain 864,000 tons of bombs on North Vietnam over the next three-and-a-half years, killing 52,000 North Vietnamese.

Listening to the recent John #Zerzan interview on #IGD provoked some thoughts and questions. First, I have never heard the IGD host get that saucy with anyone before, so its fair to assume Zerzan has done something at some point to alienate typically gracious comrades. I found Zerzan’s show in 2014/2015/2016 or so, before I found IGD, and understand him vaguely as an outsider and iconoclast among anarchists, which is saying something.
Although I do not claim to be the best-read (or even a reasonably well-read) Madrone, from what I understand, #anti-civ theory is rooted in the fundamentally Rousseauian idea that the establishment of civilization was the original fall from grace, that civilization is tantamount to technology and concentration of power, and therefore to corruption and inevitable tyranny, not to mention unsustainable growth and destruction of the ecosystem. Although I have questions, I generally find the theory sympathetic.
I learned about it entirely from listening to, reading, and reading about Zerzan. So, I have to confess that, despite his quirks, I kind of like him and experienced a small allergy in listening to another person I like, the IGD host, being so offhandedly dismissive about his ideas. To be fair, Zerzan has an aloof tone of his own, and the way he stepped over the international justice campaigns featured in Crimthinc’s How to Change Everything tour in order to criticize the tour insufficiently Changing Everything was, to put it mildly, especially shitty.
Some of my questions about anti-civ theory are: How far does it go? Is society itself tantamount to civilization? Would keeping a post-civ society from reverting to civilization be its own form of tyranny? Must the fruits of civilization be discarded along with its poisons? Is medicine technology? Art? Language? As I understood anti-civ prior to the interview, the answer to all of these questions is more or less “yes.”
Zerzan stepped back from that position a bit during the interview: he seemed to argue that anti-civ argues for an expansion of skills and not that everyone should go into the woods to hunt and gather tomorrow, that it is not a silver bullet to all of our problems under present conditions. That argument sounds familiar: anti-civ’s job, like anarchism, is to critique and reframe, not solve and ‘explain everything to you.’ While valid, that argument sidesteps what I consider to be a serious question: if present circumstances take anti-civ’s utopia off the table, then what does it prescribe we do to present circumstances other than expand skills and retreat from technology? Is harm reduction reformist? Is anti-civ accelerationist? Because this is where I find my greatest concern about (what I understand to be) the theory: that anti-civ appears to value the end of civilization more than it does helping people survive and thrive the here and now. Zerzan appeared to prove the point when he stepped over chose to criticize the purity of Crimthinc’s radical branding rather than honoring the peoples movements it featured, which are actually fighting for justice here and now. To be fair, Zerzan’s argument was rooted (at least rhetorically) in being accountable to a meaningful strategy and avoiding performative posturing, which are serious considerations. But it was a red flag for me.
So, Zerzan, I suppose my question is: does anti-civ have something to add when it comes to short and/or long-term strategies for radical degrowth that include harm reduction for those most hurt by that change? -

She joined the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) Rank Aircraft Woman 1st Class. Service No. 2068080. Unit 7 Air Gunners School. Military Base Stormy Down, Glamorganshire.
Monica died in RAF Hospital St. Athan of meningitis having been taken seriously ill at RAF Stormy Down on 23 June and she was laid to rest at Penzance Cemetery aged 19. She was entitled to be awarded the British WW2 medals and is commemorated on the Madron War Memorial.

1. Leczenie ciała: Mądrość tkanki
Wyobraźcie sobie, że Wasze mięśnie to gąbka. W ciągu dnia, tygodnia, lat życia – w tę gąbkę wsiąkają napięcia, stres, urazy i zmęczenie. Z czasem gąbka robi się sucha, sztywna i ciężka. Żyjemy w epoce ciągłej gotowości. Nasz układ nerwowy non-stop pracuje na najwyższych obrotach – to tryb "walcz lub uciekaj" (współczulny). Masaż jest jak naciśnięcie przycisku "reset" i przełączenie na tryb "odpoczywaj i traw" (przywspółczulny).Wystarczy kilkanaście minut spokojnego dotyku, by:
Obniżył się poziom kortyzolu (hormonu stresu).

Two tremendous dystopian whodunnit films
Two recently released dystopian thrillers are outstanding movies and both are available via streaming services.
Mercy (2026)
Source: imdb.comReleased earlier this year, Mercy is a tremendously interesting and entertaining science fiction movie — despite what the critics may say. In fact, the reviews and ratings by viewers of the film are much, much higher than those of the critics.
Rebecca Ferguson and Chris Pratt are tremendous in their respective roles – Ms. Ferguson as the AI generated Judge Maddox of the Mercy Capital Court and Mr. Pratt as a police officer accused of murder. He has exactly 90 minutes to prove his innocence sufficiently to AI Judge Maddox (a threshold below 92 percent likelihood of guilt) or be summarily executed.
Mr. Pratt must prove his innocence while his arms and legs are locked into the execution chair by employing all sorts of evidence gathering techniques that access the court’s ties to the municipal cloud. All technological devices within the city (LA) must be registered to the municipal cloud so defendants can access them. This includes surveillance cameras, live action feeds, cell phones, databases, and other technologies available. He can do this by use of a small hand screen or through voice requests to the cloud and/or AI Judge Maddox.
You will definitely be on the edge of your set while watching Mercy!

Meanwhile, Mr. Ahmed play the fixer who uses old-fashion TTY (teletypewriter) relay service to communicate with his clients (the whistleblowers) and to those who are harassing them.

Farem una ruta de 14.3km i 390m de desnivell amb dificultat Moderada entre Molins de Rei i el Papiol, passant pel Puig Madrona i l'ermita de la Salut.
Ens mourem en tren (R4, vies 7/8), sortirem puntualment!
