Of course, if you’ve been following my posts about this story and the series, you might actually know who the Whitechapel Murderer was. I’ve alluded to it before. It was Duncan. Alistair would be the historically inclined tour guide, bringing us to all of the areas where he's seen many, many things take place in the past. He would share stories, ask opinions, etc. He also knows every good bookshop, home library (of friends), and place where antiques are sold.

Hati would be the fun tour guide. She would bring us to the places where the locals visit. She knows every hole-in-the-wall area, excellent eatery, and exciting pub (with good folks who frequent, not the arseholes).

All in all, I would just *have* take a tour with both of them for the full experience.

I would actually go so far as to say that between Alistair and Fenella, things are pretty even and equal. They're capable of the same things. They're both immortals. With that being said, however, let's touch on other stories of mine. I've written many a tale with PAs (personal assistants) and their bosses falling in love. Those are tougher to tackle because there's definitely a power imbalance involved. It needs to be handled delicately. I've usually always written the PA making the first move, not the boss. That way it doesn't seem like the PA character is being taken advantage of, if you catch my drift. But yes, it definitely presents unique opportunities for the storylines we write with situations like that.

Number one, we’re taking quite a bit from Viking mythology for this supernatural universe, things that sit right along with my own original bits and pieces. Number two, this isn’t just another Catholic and religious vampire story. I wanted to write something that was entirely different, all while still keeping the heart and soul of the Hammer Horror films there for everyone to enjoy.

In this series, we only know that Catholicism isn’t real. It’s a lie fed to mortals, which Alistair tells Hati pretty early on. I didn’t want to create yet another copy-paste vampire story with the usual religious lore that comes along with each tale. That being said, mortals and immortals alike might just wander the earth as ghosts after their lives end. For instance, vampires, when they die, always become spirits. That part is a given for their kind. (They don’t just go straight to a non-existent Hell.)

Fenella's nickname is rather cute. It's just a shortened version of her name. People close to her often call her Fen. Other than that, we don't have any nicknames for MCs. Hati (my SC) goes by that name because she's a full-shift werewolf. She doesn't even mention her real name throughout Book 1. We don't learn it. She often calls her husband, a fellow werewolf, Máni.

Viking Mythology is *very much* intrinsically tied to the lore of my universe. It's more real than mythological.

In the beginning, people might assume that he's weak and cares little for the immortals in the world, when in fact he does care, he cares *far too much,* and it often makes him careless, a bad judge of character on immediate greeting, and susceptible to being used. He's rather good at reading people these days because of the mistakes he made when he was younger, but he's quiet about it now.

People also might assume he's lazy, has never traveled the world, and has always kept to himself in his castle. Wrong. He lived and learned, which is exactly why he's the way he is when we meet him on the first page.
