  6. We understand why #RICA is necessary, don't get me wrong. But anyone who's ever bought a SIM card in #SouthAfrica knows what a pain in the ass it can be. And anyone who's ever lost, had to dispose of, or had a SIM card stolen in #SouthAfrica knows how *scary* it can be.

What's worse, the process doesn't actually work, when you think about it: techcentral.co.za/great-big-fl

  7. What a wonderful trip down memory lane!

I think my family got #MNet very soon after it launched. If not 1987, then 1988 at the latest. And I remember that first decoder.

I think even after #Dstv launched, we stuck with "just M-Net" for a while.

Love them or hate them, #Multichoice definitely had a huge impact on #television in this country.

  11. 💰 Salary, 🌟 Development, 😊 Joy.
Everyone in your Team needs these values.
    Pick two? You won't last.

Yes, you can earn well without joy. But your weekends vanish. Your energy dies. Your money gets spent on escape.

Yes, you can love your job and get paid well. But if you're stuck with no growth, no challenge, eventually your spark fades.

And working forever on your weaknesses? That's not growth. That's managerial malpractice. Real development means doubling down on strengths, not sanding down your edges.

Also: the €5k difference between €95k and €100k? You won't feel it.
But the difference between €48k and €60k? That hits your daily.

    Want joy, growth, and sustainability?
    → Fewer roles.
    → Smaller teams.
    → Clearer direction.
    → Less compromise.
→ Room and Space for every role.

That's how you build something that actually works.

  12. It was easier to locate the individuals in their private houses.

“We were not interested in killing operatives only when they were in a military building or engaged in a military activity. On the contrary, the IDF bombed them in homes without hesitation, as a first option. It’s much easier to bomb a family’s home. The system is built to look for them in these situations.”

  13. Meanwhile, you can still sign up for #SABCPlus without a TV licence. And SABC Plus is actually good. Catch-up for #SABC shows like Masterchef and Wheel of Fortune.

That just makes no sense to me. So many people don't have access to watch SABC the traditional way even if they wanted to, so they have to rely on #streaming, and SABC Plus lets them do that. But they don't ask for your #TVLicence number to sign up.

So you don't need one to sign up for their own streaming service, but they'd like you to need one to sign up for Netflix? Really?

P.S. I pay my TV licence. Always have. I feel like the spirit of the thing is that if you consume any content created by the SABC (watching their videos, listening to their radio stations, reading their news articles, even following them on social media), then it is good and right and proper that, if you can afford it, you should pay. It's a way of keeping the state broadcaster afloat so that all those poor and marginalised people who CAN'T afford to pay, and for whom the SABC is potentially their only connection to the outside world and their only source of entertainment, still get to enjoy it.

But come on now, SABC. Get your own house in order first. :-D

  14. "The unit is engaged in the same kind of AI work that the world’s biggest tech companies, like Google, Facebook and China’s Baidu are doing in a race to apply machine learning to such functions as self-driving cars, analysis of salespeople’s telephone pitches and cybersecurity — or to fight Israel’s next war more intelligently."

“I’ve always loved algorithms. I was already involved with them in high school and worked in the field. When I [was] drafted I wanted to combine the technology with a combat,” Maj. Sefi Cohen, 34, recalls.

The unit’s only female member left recently. so for the moment it’s an all-male team. Cohen says: “Everyone who’s here is the tops.”

  15. Do you have a topic you want to debate, but no one willing to sit with the complexity instead of rushing to conclusions?

  16. Intelligent people aren't blessed.
    They're cursed with clarity.

While others blissfully regurgitate third-hand opinions over coffee machines, the intelligent sit silently. Watching your house of cards collapse in slow motion. They see every missing piece, every shortcut, every "good enough" buried under "we don't do perfection".

You call it overthinking, as you can't catch up.
They call it surviving the inevitable chaos you refuse to see.

    They usually don't talk much.
    Not because they're shy,
but because your noise hurts their logic.

You hired them to solve problems.
    So let them finish.
Don't micromanage the mechanic fixing your brakes at 200km/h.

    Give them space.
And watch them quietly drag your company into a future
you're not even equipped to imagine.

Painful brilliance produces systems that don't scream at 3am.
    Let them work.
