  1. We humans should care way less about being right and more about being kind.

Being strong doesn't mean being rigid. It means owning your mistakes and knowing when to say "I am sorry".

  3. Biblical morality often sparks deep conversations about right and wrong. It challenges us to reflect on our values and the principles we live by. How do you interpret the teachings of the Bible in today's world? Let's explore the relevance of these ancient texts in our modern lives. #Faith #Morality #Bible #Ethics #Spirituality

  5. I had a "religion is not a substitute for a self-developed inner framework of morality and ethics" moment today.

I was at a pedestrian crossing, trying to cross the road in front of a big cathedral in Valle de Bravo earlier today, when Sunday mass was in session.

I saw nearly all drivers slow down as they passed the cathedral to peer at it and do the sign of the cross across their chest.

But the odd thing was, no one would come to a stop to let me cross the road!

I was amused that people would choose to slow down to participate in the performative dogma of religion, of crossing oneself, perhaps with the intention of being a "good" Christian, while actively rejecting the opportunity to value a fellow human and stop their car to allow me to cross the road.

I think this is what happens when you don't grapple with the questions "what kind of person do I want to be?" and "what does it mean to be good?" on your own and arrive at answers that make sense to you as opposed to accepting wholesale the terms and conditions laid out by religion.

I had to forcefully start walking into traffic for someone to stop and make way for me to cross the road 😅

  7. it makes me sad that i grew up all my life with the core knowledge that Nazis are bad.... and that seemed to be a universally held - and upheld - truth.

But then everyone got addicted to social media platforms and now it's fine if those companies pay Nazis to post rage bait. People will just keep scrolling anyway.

Seb i removed you as a follower

    i despise you

i consider you to be a monster worse than an #immoral or #amoral person

you are content to sit in your mind palace and smugly judge the world for being messy, and doing nothing else, and thinking this is " #moral"

you are nothing but a picture of rank #entitlement

stop believing anything you say has anything to do with #morality, it does not

and fix your rotten conceited soul

  13. A quotation from Montaigne

The laws of conscience, which we pretend to be derived from nature, proceed from custom; every one, having an inward veneration for the opinions and manners approved and received among his own people, cannot, without very great reluctance, depart from them, nor apply himself to them without applause.

  15. haha .. what, kiddy ?!

#humans don't always act as morally as they say they are, so "we" (whoever that is) prefer #computers which do not have a concept of #morality at all - but that they can do much faster

    thats not a #thesis 😅

    not even close

  17. #Iran state bans #gambling for everyone in the name of "Islamic morality".

But now Reuters found a multi-billion-dollar sanctions-evasion network connected to #IRGC and state which relies on the same illegal gambling ecosystem that people are arrested, prosecuted and punished for it.

This is how authoritarian oligarchies work: one set of rules for the public and another set for those in power. #Morality is for controlling society; corruption is reserved for the elite.

  19. The Wall of Hindu Nationalism under Modi is breaking down. Today, the Cockroach Janata Party has proven it. Any nation that practices 'extremism' is bound to fade out of existence. 25. 💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: 🧒❤️ A study of 537 children ages 3 to 10 found that kindness and cooperation come intuitively to the youngest #kids, especially those who had to decide quickly. Researchers observed that by ages 9 to 10, #children who had time to reflect became just as prosocial as those deciding on instinct.

  26. We can all relax.

"The phenomenology of heroic action seems to be at odds with commonsense morality: while the latter tells us that heroic acts of self-sacrifice are morally optional, heroes reliably believe that such acts are morally required of them. Do heroes systematically exhibit false moral beliefs, or does our commonsense commitment to the possibility of supererogation need revising? This paper argues, contrary to both supererogationists and anti-supererogationists, that we need not decide: as what we are morally required to do depends on how virtuous we are, heroes are right to believe that heroic actions are morally required of them, while ordinary folk morality is right that, for ordinary folk, these very same actions are morally optional."
