Just added another great piece to my Awesome Event-Driven Architecture list: Kim Clark's "The Resurgence of Event Driven Architecture".

Two things I like: it gives real historical context (messaging didn't start with Kafka), and it's clear that an asynchronous transport buys you no runtime decoupling if you still use it for request/response.

@adamhsparks I was thinking the same thing. When #Posit first came out with #Positron, I was hoping they would embrace more or less the #Jupyter (#Julia + #Python + #R) philosophy of promoting the 3 core data science #EDA languages.

A bit disappointed that #Positron isn't embracing #Julialang as a native language in their IDE. I think #Julia is a strong contender for exploratory data analysis #EDA. I do appreciate the minor support for a very alpha extension, but it's clear #Posit doesn't have real desire to support Julia. It's a wonderful language!

Kafka has become a protocol with several implementations behind it. I'll look at the drop-in alternatives (Redpanda, WarpStream, AutoMQ, Bufstream), what the diskless, object-storage-first designs really trade away and gain, client libraries that add retries and other missing pieces, proxies and gateways for scale-to-zero setups, and two KIPs worth knowing: 932 (queues) and 1150 (diskless topics).

Одна DRC-дека, три техпроцесса и двенадцать неверных гипотез

Мы были уверены, что наш DRC-движок универсален. На SKY130 он совпадал с эталонным KLayout до последнего нарушения: тесты зелёные, расхождения нулевые, поведение стабильное от прогона к прогону. Из этого казалось очевидным, что движок применим к любому техпроцессу. Он же просто исполняет правила из деки и ничего не знает про конкретную фабрику. Мы эту мысль не проверили. Мы в неё поверили. И это разные вещи, как выяснилось.

Funny how we're still dealing with #NDAs in the #firmware space while NDA-free fabbing and open #EDA tools are becoming more and more available and advanced.

I am picturing the day when you could
- fab your own chip in a tiny 3D-printer like thing
- same with the PCB for it and soldering
- 3D-printing a case or whatever

The "Community Computer" from the bottom up looks very realistic to me.

Три фикса, четыре ошибки, один файл

# Как мы четыре раза неправильно диагностировали зависание на джобе 281 339 Несколько месяцев назад я писал, [как мы четыре раза неправильно чинили мерцание]( https://habr.com/ru/articles/1042962/ ) при рендеринге 4,4 миллиона полигонов. Тогда казалось, что это рекорд: месяц блужданий, четыре отброшенных подхода, решение на неделю. Эта история хуже. Баг пережил четыре диагноза подряд , два из которых мы успели «подтвердить числами», получил по дороге три работающих фикса от несуществующих причин - и в итоге оказался файлом, который лежал на рабочем столе. Напомню контекст: мы небольшой командой пишем на Rust + Vulkan редактор топологий интегральных схем + верификатор (DRC/LVS/Antenna/PEX) с прицелом на российский рынок. Команда - три человека, я в роли CTO направляю архитектуру и принимаю основные решения. В том числе неверные, о которых ниже. Тестовый основной дизайн всё тот же - Caravel SkyWater SKY130: 4,4 миллиона полигонов, 1014 уникальных ячеек, 22 уровня иерархии, 278 МБ GDS (недавно воспользовались прекрасным проектом [TinyTapeout]( https://github.com/TinyTapeout/ ) - для прогона на различных gds) К моменту этой истории мы только что закончили перф-кампанию по паразитной экстракции (PEX). Если коротко: чтобы посчитать ёмкости, нужно сначала собрать цепи - обойти иерархию чипа BFS-ом от каждого "сида" (точки на цепи устройства) и выяснить, какие фигуры электрически связаны. На Caravel это 537 748 сидов. Кампания ужала полный холодный прогон с 962 секунд до 70: пространственный грид вместо квадратичного перебора пар, параллельные трейсы на 14 потоках, кеш результата. Все гейты бит-идентичности зелёные, CLI летает.
