  11. Do you disable "Keep Upright" when placing references on a circuit board?

Case for upright: Upright is more readable for assembly/service.

Case against: The text direction can point to the part it's referencing.

  12. In my talks, I usually make it a point to argue for event-driven choreography. At least at the higher levels of your system, between different bounded contexts and teams.

I came across this article that puts it very nicely: choreography promotes modularity.

According to the AI summary on the page, one thing I said was: "Many teams struggle with EDA not because of tooling [..], but due to a failure to grasp its fundamental principles and the need to unlearn old habits."

    Sounds like me.

  31. I just found out that these days, the geometry rendering performance of Kicad far outpaces that of Altium. Loading a ~100 MB footprint file takes a few seconds in Kicad and then the UI is perfectly smooth, meanwhile altium can’t even open the file.

I guess in this case I’m going to go with my standard gerbolyze workflow and just overlay the complex geometry over the final gerbers.

#Kicad #EDA #Electronic #Foss

  33. At keplertech.io, we’ve been recently working on an open-source logic equivalence checking (LEC) tool: github.com/keplertech/kepler-f
It started with fast gate-to-gate comparison, and we’re now extending it with a SystemVerilog frontend to support RTL-to-gate and RTL-to-RTL equivalence checking, with a strong focus on speed and CI/CD-friendly integration.
If you’re interested or think this could fit your workflow, feel free to reach out.

  34. Speed. Immediacy. Traceability.

That’s where #EventDrivenArchitecture shines in banking: decoupled systems, scalable services & clear activity trails.

But … EDA also introduces new complexity, failure modes & operational challenges.

In this #InfoQ article, Chris Tacey-Green breaks down where EDA actually adds value in banking systems - and the practical patterns needed to make it reliable.
