  1. We've found that the logical thinking developed in the garage serves us everywhere. Breaking complex problems into manageable pieces, testing solutions, iterating until success - these are life skills.

How has building motorcycles improved your problem-solving in other areas? The garage teaches practical intelligence.

  2. Intelligent people aren't blessed.
    They're cursed with clarity.

While others blissfully regurgitate third-hand opinions over coffee machines, the intelligent sit silently. Watching your house of cards collapse in slow motion. They see every missing piece, every shortcut, every "good enough" buried under "we don't do perfection".

You call it overthinking, as you can't catch up.
They call it surviving the inevitable chaos you refuse to see.

    They usually don't talk much.
    Not because they're shy,
but because your noise hurts their logic.

You hired them to solve problems.
    So let them finish.
Don't micromanage the mechanic fixing your brakes at 200km/h.

    Give them space.
And watch them quietly drag your company into a future
you're not even equipped to imagine.

Painful brilliance produces systems that don't scream at 3am.
    Let them work.

  6. Maybe I need a South Dakota lawyer who specializes in warranty defects for farm equipment.

Or someone who handles historical preservation and zoning in Williamsburg.

Or international disputes over placement of underwater cables in the North Atlantic.

Do you, or someone you know, have a great legal niche? I'd like to know. Drop a name and explanations in the comments.

  7. And then there are the times I have no idea who to call.

While I have a lot of people I can call on for specialty situations, sometimes there's a gap in my contacts.

  12. "I know someone for that."

Maybe the best thing you can hear.

When you've got a specialized problem that most won't know how to handle, getting a direct referral to someone who specializes in that particular problem is great.

So when people reach out to me for legal help, and it's outside my area, I always like to look for someone who does exactly what they need.

  14. In this interview with #DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis is that you can almost feel the switch between #LinearThinking and #DivergentThinking.

Much #AIhype is generated by “linear thinkers”. Even their version of #SystemsThinking, is linear. Appropriate for #problemsolvers. Rather dangerous when we trust them in #ProblemDefinition or when they take the Human Condition as a problem to be solved.

At least, Hassabis is selfaware enough to recognize limitations.
