Huh... Unless something else is very wrong, apparently loose debris of PETG that get stuck to the underside of the #prusa #mk3s can over time coat it in such a way that the printer will start freaking out from temperature errors...

I wish upgrading to a MK3.5 or even MK4 was cheaper. I cannot justify the upgrade when I can get a whole Core XY printer that's considered a workhorse for the same price as the MK3.5 upgrade... 😢

One nozzle replacement and cooling assembly upgrade later, and my 4y old Prusa Mk3S+ is back to printing at excellent quality.
The new cooling assembly provides a higher flow rate while focusing the air onto the extruded filament a lot better than the old one. And I replaced the worn 2yo .4mm nozzle with a new .6mm one. 10/10 worth it.

Hi the #3dprint community. As an owner of an old Original Prusa Mk3s I wasn't willing to pay 279€ only for a color screen and a printing speed boost.
Fortunately, installing a Klipper firmware (using a RPI 3B+) in order to boldly revive it was a success. As I already have equipped the Original Prusa with a RPI, octoprint and Octodash for the screen, I would say that this is a 0€ invest for getting a Mk3.5 class printing machine.

@foosel Would this work on a #Prusa #MK3S, or would some degree of modification be required to get the accelerometer data?

I'm in a holding pattern if I should get a new printer, continue to use OctoPrint, and or upgrade my mk3s.

I love octoprint and would love to use it on my next printer too.

I swapped out the standard 2004A display for a sexy red one on my #Prusa #MK3S+. Had to desolder a row of 16 header pins. The result - glorious. The red display goes well with the black printed parts and makes it look like it wants to print for the dark side of the force. #3dprinting #soldering #evilprinter

Ooops. It was going so well, till the little benchy broke free. Nothing a little glue stick won’t fix.

My #Prusa #MK3S is stuck in a recalibration loop after several days of rain, and then several days of running a dehumidifier. Last time when this happened indoors, it was a lubrication issue. I had to clean the rails and then lubricate with a thin #RCCar lube.

Has anyone tried graphite lubricants that might be less dust and humidity sensitive?

@freeformz The print quality with this beast is so much better than anything I was ever able to turn out of the #MK3S. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Acid test will be how things go when I encounter a technical issue. But, so far, the only problem has been that PLA doesn't always adhere to the Cool Plate well even with glue. Textured plate on order!

The only problem is the lack of input-shaping. But I hope that one it is stable on the #MK4 and an accelerometer can be used for tuning, they will bring it to the #MK3 and #MK3S.

I’m going to reprint (and upgrade) some of my #Prusa #MK3S extruder components. Has anyone else done this? What filaments work best?

There are a lot of helpful resources when it comes to calibrating the first layer of a #3dprinter. Finally got around at upgrading the fan duct on my #prusa #mk3s to a CFD modeled one, no idea if it affects print quality but just look at that CFD :-) also a big benefit is that it gives luch better visibility of the nozzle

Which will allow me to see quicker when the prints fail 🙈

Either way, feels good to finally have gotten around at doing what 3d printers were made for, upgrading 3d printers...
