  1. Hey #AskFedi #lazyweb, throw me some #keyboard recommendations. I want something low profile and TKL - I'm not averse to unusual layouts but the presence of Home and End keys is non-negotiable.

Wouldn't mind something white or light grey, I don't care if it lights up but if it has to have lights on for key labels to be visible I don't want it.

Wireless would be cool but dongle, not Bluetooth. Am in Australia on a budget so an artisan European mechanical is not a realistic option.

    What ya got?

  2. Keyboard enthusiasts of Mastodon, what is your optimal 70% keyboard?

I currently have a Magegee (?) of unknown modelage but It's a tad annoying to type on. I'd like something tactile and clicky, though thocky is good too.

  3. The dirtiest thing in your house? Maybe your #keyboard.

  4. btw, after some time, ended up learning enough to get how to patch that #android minuum #keyboard app

(can't find the previous post about it to link because the text search in this instance is shit)

did write down the patch if anyone else wants to bother with this over 10 year old keyboard app that is abandonware

(no I can't be bothered to share the patched apk, you don't know if I'm sending a virus or something)

  5. Replacement part: keyboard circuit board for A500/A1200

At PCBWay, you can order a keyboard circuit board for the A500 and A1200 that replaces the original rubber membrane. The board is compatible with the following Mitsumi keyboards:

    - A500: Mitsumi A619A (large ENTER key) and A619B (small ENTER key)
    - A1200: Mitsumi 56C774A

  6. I've been using the #NuPhy Kick75 #keyboard for a few months now and while I like it, it also drives me nuts sometimes. I have a problem with double key presses registering frequently. I'm wondering if it's because I spend so much time typing on a regular, crappy keyboard at work where I have to slam down the keys, so muscle memory is screwing me up. It happens mostly with the number keys.

  7. Testing keyboard-only navigation isn't just a compliance checkbox. It’s a stress test for your site’s logic flow. If you can’t reach every button with Tab and trigger it with Enter, your UX is broken for everyone, not just assistive tech users. Try navigating your own homepage without a mouse today. It’s surprisingly revealing.

  8. 🎩 Behold, the c100: a $1,400 glorified #keyboard with delusions of grandeur! 🧑‍💻✨ Because who wouldn't want to fold a mechanical keyboard and call it a "miniPC"? Genius. 🙄

  9. #duckduckfedi What do I use to lube/service my #ThinkPad (T14 Gen1) #keyboard? Today I noticed the enter key making (slight) squeaking noises when I press it in the way I usually press it.

  10. Despite my limited facility on keyboard instruments, I'm very much an enthusiast of vintage electronic pianos. The Fender Rhodes piano I own, I restored, so I know that process. This Hohner Cembalet belonged to Dave Greenfield from the Stranglers, and he played it on their original recordings. Its restoration is particularly moving when Toby comes to pick it up and plays a bit of "Golden Brown."

  11. :boost_ok:
    So, looking at
#MechanicalKeyboards, there's two from #EPOMaker the #Galaxy100 and #TH108v2Pro that look like the right place for me to start. #KeyChron also appears to have some (more pricy)options

    Unfortunately the
#Pi500+ is lacking some features of a fully contained system keyboard like usb-c display out and a full numpad.
Custom keyboards are a wide topic, so if anyone wants to share some advice getting my first(second?) Mechanical
    #keyboard, its appreciated!

Edit: oh, my only other experience has been with a
#motospeed #GK89 that showed up at work unclaimed. I like it, I like the clickyness, the back like, numpad, size. I just feel there's something more suited for me then this random acquisition.

  12. 🤏 Google is rolling out an emoji size slider in the latest Gboard beta version

  14. I think I finally got it! Sprues do not connect to the main part in the slicer, so they are juuuuust barely touching the part when it gets printed. Witness marks are minimal, and the support fins are still able to do their job. I've also added additional stem (i.e. stabilizers) support generation to the #OpenSCAD script, though just like with the #Keyboard Playground script, you have to manually add the support placement vectors yourself by editing the file (boo). A 0.2mm brim has been added to anchor the first layer without relying on slicer settings.

I'm going to get a reasonable set of caps generated this evening and post it up on Printables, etc. ASAP.
