The HDMI screen on the printer I’m building won’t go to sleep properly.
The screen content blanks but the backlight never turns off.
It’s running a CB1 (rPI CM1 clone) in a BTT M8P. I have DPMS enabled in #KlipperScreen but the toggle doesn’t seem to make any difference either way.
Any one have any ideas?

Hi the #3dprint community. As an owner of an old Original Prusa Mk3s I wasn't willing to pay 279€ only for a color screen and a printing speed boost.
Fortunately, installing a Klipper firmware (using a RPI 3B+) in order to boldly revive it was a success. As I already have equipped the Original Prusa with a RPI, octoprint and Octodash for the screen, I would say that this is a 0€ invest for getting a Mk3.5 class printing machine.

Although I enjoyed my #Klipper transition. I stayed with #Octoprint, which was actually the final straw.
Although I could live without my printer's display, the lag and sluggish and slow #UI of Octoprint just pushed me over the limit. I felt as if I couldn't react to my printer anymore.
So with a heavy heart, I removed my SD card, wiped it and installed a clean version of #Raspbian OS Lite, and used #KIAUH to install #Klipper, #Mainsail, #KlipperScreen, #Crowsnest, #Moonraker and #Octoeverywhere

Still having issues with my fysetc H36 toolhead board.
All the rest of the electronics are done and everything is wired up. Trying to work with the vendor on a replacement board and stuck until then.
Got #klipperscreen running easily and had nothing much to do after that.
Decided to work on skirts to keep some traction going.
Layer 1 of 100…

I put it onto an old phone. It's working great. Need to figure out a nice way to mount it on the printer, and also power the phone without the battery #klipperscreen

Oh that's cool. I was looking if anyone has made an easy way to run #KlipperScreen on #postmarketos, and came across this: https://github.com/umeiko/KlipperPhonesLinux
I don't really want to run everything from the phone though, just klipperscreen. I think it should be possible to adjust it. Going to play with it later today. #klipper3d #klipper

I've got myself another used PC: An HP tablet (the X2 G3) for 49€ with a cracked screen and supposedly only half-working touch (works 100% for me)! This thing is heavily used,

battery cycles! I got it mainly for running #KlipperScreen as buying a touch screen for the pi would have saved me 10€, I just got a full (mostly working) Windows/Linux tablet used instead! What an awesome deal, as this thing is worth 200€+ fully working.

Broken thing #74882985
#KlipperScreen stopped working. No amount of reinstalling, rebooting and all that stuff helps. Phone and the cable are fine.
Cool 👍

After living with Marlin and Octoprint for a year or so, the fact that Klipperscreen and Mainsail on the Trident are based on the same sources of data and can be used fluidly without thinking about which one is controlling at the time is so nice to have.
I’m more and more certain that the MK3 is going to lose its Prusa-ness and end up being some sort of DIY.

Cool thing is, I know you can flash #KlipperScreen to the #Creality K1 and K1 Max.
-
Also, part of #Klipper is being configurable. If they use #KlipperScreen, then I can customise it, change the theme, add other features, measurements, and buttons, and customise it to my liking. If they use their own UI, the source code is normally not used, and you can extend it.

Blows my mind, that manufacturers refuse to run #KlipperScreen. All these #Klipper printers are running their own UIs.
This is just stupid. As I then can't control my entire printer as promised. I can change the config, choose between #Fluidd and #Mainsail, and have root access, but I am stuck with their bad design choices for the display.
Dear manufacturers, if you decide to re-invent the wheel. Please do so by keeping the same shape. That shit needs to be round.

I am running #Klipper, and I removed my screen from my printer. But I have to say I miss my screen and want to install #KlipperScreen and a decent 5" screen.
My printer is controlled by my #RaspberryPi, and the Klipper #Android app is great, but I would sometimes just want to do something directly on the printer.

Endlich meinen Klipper-RasPi am Ender S1pro befestigt, inkl. 90° Drehung des Screens. Jetzt müssen nur noch kürzere Kabel her.
Finally attached my clipper RasPi to the Ender S1pro, incl. 90° rotation of the screen. Now only need to get shorter cables.

I guess it's a law of nature that #3dprinting enthusiasts spend 80% of their time printing parts and upgrades for their printer...
Anyway, the project I wrote about here now has a new home on top of my printer cabinet:
https://mastodon.nu/@johan_m_o/110289482487514520The phone is held nicely in place and the top part can be angled in several set positions. The whole assembly attaches to the cabinet with magnets.
Also, I'm really enjoying #KlipperScreen. Very useful addition to my setup.

Just to make sure, you are running #Klipper here with the native Klipper LCD support? That is also the default #Ender3 display, right?
It really looks great! I just love the icon for the nozzle, it looks very good. I've been wondering if I want to go for a touch screen and #KlipperScreen or just for an LCD display like this. I have a #Creality #CR6SE, so my fisplay is currently not working with Klipper.
-
The people living with me prefer to have a screen for them to know what is going on, just for safety, so I intend to get a 7" display and #KlipperScreen and mount it on the enclosure
-
I installed #KlipperScreen, although I currently don't have a screen.
I did this because I am planning on working in the wiring in the near future, so if I can prepare for a touch screen, it would be nice.
However, once again, I can overestimate enough how fast #Mainsail is. Not only on my desktop but also on my phone.
I have now uninstalled all mobile #Octoprint apps on my phone, and I am just using the app directly in my browser, and it is faster than most #Octoprint apps.
Unfortunately, in this process, I did lose my smartwatch app that #OctoApp provided. Which I 100% still recommened btw. The developer is such a decent guy, and he helped me a lot . His app and watch app are the next level of top quality! Probably one of my most difficult losses of this process.

"Both devices are 300 x 300 x 300 mm CoreXY machines, an interesting switch for Creality, which has largely relied on the bedslinger i3 approach until now."
This is very good and interesting. I hope this helps bring #CoreXY to the masses because most of the current CoreXY machines are very niche or self-built #DIY machines, which is a limiting factor.
I don't see any mention of whether they are using #Marlin or #Klipper, but my guess is Klipper for it's native networking support.
An interesting question would be whether they went the #KlipperScreen route, have they implemented their own displays, or will the printers simply not have displays at all and rely on network support for everything.
-
There is #KlipperScreen for #Klipper. One of my reasons that I haven't moved over to #Klipper yet is because then the display on my #Creality #CR6SE will be useless, and I currently don't have a touchscreen for my #RaspberryPi.

Has anyone here experience with #Klipper macros regarding #KlipperScreen?
Is it possible to create a macro with a numeric parameter which triggers a numeric keypad within klipperscreen? -
