I have a completely cursed 2018 #Ender3 sitting on the floor in my garage 😆
...but my main machine is a Sovol SV-07 that I got a couple years ago.
It's a bit flawed, a little bit buggy on the software side, but it's got Klipper and it prints decently reliably and fast. It has mesh bed leveling and bed springs, for some silly reason. But I don't print very often, and for the most part, it just works.
A #Prusa #CoreXY would be crazy cool, but they're out of my price league. ;)

This work by Dennis is amazing!
➡️ https://hackaday.com/2025/12/22/calibrating-a-printer-with-computer-vision-and-precise-timing/I think it's absolutely useful for 3D printing but we should also improve our designs to reduce variations. Yes this is possible given the current cost of DIY machines; some parts of the printer would become cheaper, while others would become more expensive. For example, CoreXY is a fairly inaccurate motion system, maintenance level is on the higher side and it uses a lot of parts. ⤵️

Hey #3dprinting community!
I'm running a sturdy #corexy printer I've build myself back in 2018. Currently, I'm thinking about replacing it. Since 2018, the market evolved and seems to come up with affordable quality builds, quality of life features, new capabilities (multicolor ...) and the need for less tinkering (I've kids now 😉). It seems like the more "integrated" systems don't play nice with my beloved #octoprint . Is it getting less relevant? What do you think?

I just added up the price of making my own #CoreXY #3Dprinter.
it wasn't too bad, then I noticed that all the metal work had been deselected, once I added that back (spurt coffee.gif).
I'll just carry on with my #Ender3

A Review Of The Two Trees SK1
My journey into 3D printing started ten years ago with a Prusa clone I built from a kit, and has moved forward in fits and starts. Last year I decided to invest more into it, and now things have escalated yet again–for I have spent the past month testing the Two Trees SK1, a solid CoreXY machine tha(...)

Why is the belt moving up and down? This is generally due to 4 things:
- Angular misalignment of the pulleys/idlers
- Parallel misalignment of the pulleys/idlers
- Belt quality, wear and type
- Pulleys/idlers quality and wearIt is also good to know that long belts have the teeth cut at a very small angle which could also increase this phenomena.

Today, it's hard to find a 3D printer motion system that isn't capable of fast printing with both light or heavy extruders. I wish the motion type would stop being an important selling/marketing point.
Focusing on the quality and testing of the design itself is a more important aspect.
For example, thermal expansion, scalability, ease of building, hardware quality, low maintenance could impact a lot more than the motion system itself.
