The only problem is the lack of input-shaping. But I hope that one it is stable on the #MK4 and an accelerometer can be used for tuning, they will bring it to the #MK3 and #MK3S.

  7. Installing firmware 5.0.0 on my #prusa #mk4 feels like I just got a new printer! The speeds allowed by the #inputshaping algorithm are crazy, shaved 1h on a 2h print, with no visible quality tradeoffs.

    Good job #prusa !

  9. So the #Prusa #Mk4 5.0.0a4 firmware supports #inputshaping. It built a benchy in just over half of the time (38m) as without input shaping (67m). But the result had significant defects.

    Useful for drafts? Maybe.

I suspect #Octoprint was not a problem before but rather my lack of the 5.0.0 firmware when using a GCO sliced for input shaping.

The #loadcell is a nice feature. The exact problem my #Mk3 was recently encountering (nozzle collision with sheet) should not be possible with the #Mk4!

  14. #Prusa #Mk4 Trying to print a #benchy using #inputshaping via #octoprint may have been a bit ambitious for a second print.

The benchy first layer, twice, came out poorly and no additional layers printed. This was undetected by the printer. The extruder kept moving.

And now I'm seeing this message after 2 failed attempts.

    Not great.

  19. I published a thing on Printables. This is a fix to Prusa's MK4 nozzle changing tool that makes it easier to remove from the hotend.

Fuuuuck, I hyper-fixated on troubleshooting my 3d printer, because it keeps under extruding for no damn reason. (I've tried multiple trouble shooting steps, brand new filament, and I'm currently printing replacement parts).

These things are not really plug and play yet...

I feel like I spend more time doing maintenance than I do printing anything. D:<

I'm also feeling super useless with my foot still being hard to walk around on -.-

  22. Wondering if there are users here. I have assembled mine, working great, but the only interesting thing is that not matter what I do, 3 sides look great (of whatever print) one side always has some ghosting/ringing. It happens when the y axis moves to the front.

  23. @janssen prusalink over Ethernet works fine for me #MK4. Except sometimes really slow transfer speeds.

Finally got everything dialed-in on the #octoprint - printing a couple laptop stands:

  25. And we have our trusty #Prusa #Mk4 #3Dprinting on site at #Grafana Con making fidget coins, shopping cart coins, and earrings, of course.

  26. #Octolapse on #Octoprint for the #Prusa #MK4 is janky AF - uninstalled 😦

Anyone know when native support is coming? (TIA!)

  27. Slightly terrified… just started a 38 hour print. I’ve been driving a Prusa Mini for the past two years but never printed anything this big! The Mk4 handled a 16 hour print without issue so I’m pretty confident it’s gonna be ok. It’ll finish at 7am on Saturday so the hairiest part of the print is going to happen while I’m sleeping! #prusa #mk4 #3dprinting

  28. #York to #London #KingsCross #KGX 🇬🇧 with an #LNER #InterCity225 - a #Class91 electric and #Mk4 coaches. Richie, the wonderful steward, is selling snacks and drinks from a buffet counter. This is probably as close to a @diningcar service as it can get on this line.

  29. Upgraded the Mk4 with an enclosure. Also threw in an air filtering system, fire suppression, LED strip and paver to reduce the noise. It’s quiet as a mouse now; I can easily work next to it even when it’s printing with input shapers at full speed.

The LCD cable is a bit too short with the paver, hence why I put the screen back Inside. I’m printing some taller feet to try and work around that.

  30. With the brim, plus the new auto bed sensing and the textured plate, printing PETG is now a complete no-brainer on the MK4. Plus a pile of small, but really nice quality of life improvements over the Mini and the Snapmaker like the filament auto-loading.

The only required tweak was configuring the slicer to add a -0.125mm Z-offset to force it to squish into the textured plate a little more firmly

  35. I am having more and more trouble with my #mk3 . I just ordered a #mk4 to restart fresh. Can't wait to have it :)

  36. @koz

Interesting, I never knew that. Because damn, I flashed some dank firmware to my #Creality #CR6SE.

It might just be to help protect users and almost help to ensure warrenty. But does this also hold for all other #Prusa printers? Is this why fewer users are running #Klipper on #MK3 and #MK4?

  37. @geekandi @Zorzal

It will be difficult to lose the reputation of the "trustworthy work horse", because printing farms won't easily switch and now people might start selling their #MK3 printers and I don't thinks farms will just switch to #MK4 over night.

But they are getting a lot of flak and hate with these delays.

I feel the #Prusa #MK3 and now the new #MK4 as well as the #XL are focussed on a different target group than the #Bambulab #XC1. But because the entire #3dprinting community would buy either company's machines, this fine line becomes a grey area, so they are directly compared.

The #MK3 and #MK4 will never reach the speeds of the #XC1, with stock parts, and the #XC1 will never reach the reliability of the #Prusa machines.

You can't use a,n #XC1 in a #printfarm, let alone afford 1000 of them, and you can't prototype and test at the speed of the #XC1 with the Prusa machines.

If I had a print farm, I would buy 500 Prusa machines and 1 Bambulab to test on, but I would manufacture with the Prusa machines.
