  3. My new #neptune4 nozzle lasted a week: toot.kottman.xyz/@michal/11533

    I was doing flow calibration and had to step away, and came back to a horrible mess with plastic everywhere.

    I managed to get some off with the help of a hot air station. There's still some plastic inside which I don't know if I'll be able to get out.

    What do you use to clean up mess like this? Or do you straight buy a new one?

  5. I don't know exactly what happened to my #3dprinting on my #elegoo #neptune4 , but recently I've had a very good experience - just turn on, upload+print and forget about it.

    First layer adhesion is good, minimum stringing, no layer warping, overhangs have reasonable supports, the models look good (compared to what I had in the beginning).

    Is it bias in model selection (instinctive "this would print good/bad"), is it the hundreds of profile tweaks, new bed and diy enclosure finally paying off?

  9. My poor #Neptune4 is chugging along, one print after another, all for the goal of having the #ercf working! Still quite some parts and hours (more like days) of printing to go, as having only 1 abs-capable printer with a relatively small build plate takes some time.

  11. I've got myself a #ercf kit for my #3dprinter 🙈. It's the one from #trianglelabs. We'll see how it'll work out for my #neptune4. Or my Artillery Genius? Maybe even portable? See you in 2 weeks after holiday.

    I got it today, as the kit was only 114€ for 9 colors.

    (I have my printer on the floor for extra anti-vibration protection).

  17. Chicken and egg problem: to print good ABS apparently I need an enclosure, so I tried printing the "IKEA Lack" DIY enclosure leg extenders in ABS, except they are all cracked due to not being printed in an enclosure :-/

    So I'm printing another set of extenders in PLA...

    I feels like these printers are so cheap compared to other products, because you get the bare bones and have to DIY print the rest of the machine 😁

  19. @jamie I now have the best #Neptune4 running OpenNept4une (github.com/OpenNeptune3D/OpenN) and with a #KlackEnder so this annoying inductive probe doesn't destroy my z-offset when printing ASA. The z-offset issues are gone completely and it now works even with latest #klipper, #moonraker and more! The screen works mostly, too!

  21. 8 hours later, I am disappointed. I think the idea to cut the model in two was good in general, as both the top and uneven bottom of the model are nice and smooth. The cut/bottom layers are also nice and smooth, so initial adhesion must have been good.

    However the bottom layer warping upwards caused to halves to no longer fit together, and I don't think there's a way to finish/post-process this...

  25. Must have left a gold coin outside or something, this dragon infestation is horrible, someone should do something :)

    I think I finally settled on a print profile that both sticks to the build plate, and also comes off relatively cleanly with minimal post-cutting. I have a love-hate relationship with the "brim" now.

  29. My first design in #FreeCAD - two rotating plates that should (theoretically) slot into each other and allow the top plate to rotate on top of the bottom plate.

    #Cura says that each plate should take 3 hours on my #Neptune4. Let's see how the tolerances work out...

  33. I feel like my #Neptune4 is getting progressively worse :( I've only had it for few days, and I can longer get a reasonable first layer, having to resort to wide brim and tape to hold the model in place.

    I went through all the calibration and tuning tutorials and repeatedly adjusted everything (maybe that's the problem?)

    Today I got my first "blob of goo" as the nozzle picks up non-sticky first layer and grabs it along, causing it to pick up more of "first lines".

    I envy those with no issues

    Unfortunately with a bulky extruder head like mine on the #Neptune4 I'd probably not be able to make use of it, since you need some space around the nozzle to be able to move around in 3d :-/

    But I could not find any official documentation, and tweaking configs did not yield a working camera image...

    Elegoo in their wisdom provided enough sample filament for one and a half benchys, it just about ran out as I finished the second (good) benchy.

  45. I can't get over how much better this #Elegoo #Neptune4 is than the CR20-Pro I had. It's just churning out print after print perfectly. I've printed stuff that's upright, that comes out perfect, that I'd never even attempt on the CR20 because I knew it'd just fail. I've walked away from a 5 hour print and checked in on it a couple of times whereas I'd never even have left the room with the CR20.
