Did a bit of "fuck around - find out" kind of #DIY .
Protip: soldering irons don't like running at max heat and you shouldn't muck around with a 500 C iron on the PCB for dozens of second if you want to have pads left to solder onto.
Protip 2: Don't ask me to install a cabinet.

Welp. I got a new #soldering iron and tried to put together one of the soldering kits I bought years ago and I think I already managed to fuck up the tip.
At least this is a very cheap iron, so it's not a huge loss. But still, ugh.

Ah je vous mets une petite pépite de #GALÈRE, parfois ça arrive et là c’est immortalisé dans un film ! 😅 Soudure d’un condensateur SMD, une des pastilles est reliée à un plan de masse, ce qui a pour effet de dissiper rapidement la chaleur et de gêner la soudure. Mon fil de soudure est un poil gros (⌀ 0,5 mm) et difficile à doser, je n’en avais probablement pas mis assez pour commencer. Le liquide répandu au début, c’est du flux de #soudure, ça aide à faire baisser la tension superficielle du mélange en fusion.
C95 juste au-dessus, qui présente les mêmes caractéristiques, a été soudé sans anicroche.

I'm #queer, and #polyamorous who's about 30 years old at the time of writing. I do tend to hop around fediverse instances, but I'd like to stop that at some point. I liked Friendica a lot, but my last 2 instances died very suddenly, and I decided against trying a third time. I tend to play a lot of #VisualNovel, #Mahjong on Riichi City (and hopefully some on FFXIV once cross-DC queues hit NA!), and a lot of #NSFW games. For some technical hobbies, I'm into #3DPrinting, and I've dabbled in #Soldering to make my own #MechanicalKeyboard. Didn't design it, but I did put it together without a kit :D
Generally I'm very into #FOSS, and #HomeLab. I've also been a #Linux user since 2010. Over the years I've used several flavors of Ubuntu, Debian, EndeavourOS, Garuda Linux, Arch Linux, and currently a #Gentoo user. Also #Emacs is the best piece of software to ever be released.
I'm a #Writer, though I'm currently being very slow writing this novella. Hoping to turn it into a VN, but I can't draw to save my life, and it's real expensive to commission that many images. Might just do a light novel-style thing and throw an image in with each chapter.
For crafts I like #Knitting, and I can #Crochet though do that very infrequently because it hurts. I also do #TabletWeaving, though I'm fairly new at that.
That's just about everything! I do occasionally boost porn, and will probably post my own at some point. Images will be CW'd, text likely will not be, as it causes some distress figuring out what to CW -

A few impressions of the #repair of my #Apple #PowerBook100 with lots of leaky caps. I had to open the HDD, too, to free the heads that were stuck in parking position. But now it boots again. I have to take a closer look at the LCD, though, the contrast is way too low and the potentiometer has no effect. Maybe the LA5316 is broken, or the leakage spread further than I noticed. I had to clean the side behind the caps in the picture, too. A replacement screen is no option, so I might have to abandon this project when I can't fix it. The #powersupply is beyond repair, and the battery is dead, too.

Does anyone here have experience with solder fume extractors from Fumeclear? (Looking at the 2001S or 2001A)
They claim to use HEPA filters, but not sure if there is any way to verify this.
Also considering an Atten ST-1101. It is over twice the price of the Fumeclear, but maybe a more reliable brand?
