The Lord of the Rings (1978) Explored – The Most Underrated Version of #LOTR That the World Has Forgotten #yt

Many modern fans seem not to like it. I like it :) I do.

I have no plastic toys from LOTR or anything, and I also don’t care much for the movies.

In my opinion, the movies definitely have mass visual appeal. Still, the story is the real glue that grounds it.

I don’t know. “LOTR fans don’t seem to be environmentally conscious—just over-entertained bourgeoisie, obsessing over their collection of authentic Elvish swords made of plastic, participating in consumerism, and not caring about the Earth.”

I’m not in contact with the current LOTR fan base, so there is nothing I could contribute to that discussion.

The Ents are my favorite fantasy beings in the LOTR universe: giant, talking tree beings. XD Haha.

I loved “The Hobbit”, because it is a child’s adventure story.

I hate the #LOTR movie series. It is full of adult themes, like politics, race, romance, and crap.

Tolkien would probably not have liked LOTR fans. Tolkien was of the opinion that we should take care of the forests, and value food, friendship, music, merriment and simple joys, over gold.

LOTR fans don’t seem to be environmentally conscious, just over-entertained bourgeoisie, obsessing over their collection of authentic elvish swords made of plastic, participating in consumerism and not caring about the Earth.

  5. Insightful line from Tolkien's Silmarillion.

“But he that sows lies in the end shall not lack of a harvest. And soon he may rest from toil indeed while others reap and sow in his stead. Ever Melkor [the Devil] found some ears that would hear him and some tongues that would enlarge what they had heard. And his lies passed from friend to friend as secrets of which the knowledge proves the teller wise."

The schematic Tube Map style was first designed by Harry Beck and promoted until it became the London Underground standard: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tube_map

These two designs, following that style, are by Don Wilde: donwildeart.com/collections/lo

adapting Christopher Tolkien's original maps to the Tube Map style. One shows the First Age (as told in the #Silmarillion), the other shows the Third Age (as told in #LordOfTheRings). There are loads of detail to delight #Tolkien fans.

  30. RE: mastodon.social/@sundogplanets

WTF is it with tech bros and Tolkien names? Earendil was the half eleven, half human sailor who saves Middle-earth by flying the last of the Silmarils into the night sky, thus creating the morning and evening star.

“Appropriate” name for stupid vanity flashlight death ray. They really have no imagination.

But seriously, the company’s plan is bonkers. This is the test satellite but the plan is to launch 50,000 (!!!!!) of these into the night sky so they can shine concentrated light on the earth whenever they want.
