Tonight I came to the conclusion that I needed to stop playing the WoW Forever beta, and went back to trying out Lord of the Rings Online. I decided to start fresh again, and I'm so glad I did! That starter zone story line was fantastic! And for such an old MMO, it has its moments (quite often!) of being such a pretty game. Here's a screenshot from the beginning of my new adventure.
It definitely doesn't feel as refined as WoW (Classic or Forever), and the servers have small moments of lag sporadically (got me killed in the cave with all the spiders while fighting 3 of them at difficulty level 3), but I still think the game is worth trying if you have never played before. Arriving in Bree and journeying to The Shire for the first time is such a cool experience.
Also, runs great on Linux! Just installed through Steam and using GE-Latest. Have not encountered any issues so far.
