This weekend’s projects:
1. Replace the PSU in the #Flashforge #Adventurer5M. The one it comes with has the fan going at all times, which is annoying. Meanwell makes a drop-in equivalent that… doesn’t. Unfortunately they tripled in price at some point.
2. Modify the Sunlu S2 dryer to hopefully be less noisy and not require the lid be propped open.
3. Install the #Microswiss Flowtech hotend on the #SovolSV08, if it shows up. The stock hotend is just ridiculous. A bunch of screws and thermal paste any time you want to change the nozzle? Might as well make me hot-tighten it, which I still have never done successfully. I’d rather have an E3D Revo solution rather than another standard but whatever. -

Trying to preheat the bed on the #SovolSV08. idle_timeout does nothing, apparently, because the bed still shuts off after ~10 minutes.
I don't want to try to understand these macros people have posted, so instead I'm going to use a #HomeAssistant automation that simply tells the bed to heat, waits 10 minutes, then tells it to heat again, etc.

Something I did not consider at all was that a 350x350 bed uses a lot of power… nearly 1 kW. So I can’t have anything else kick on while this is actively printing. #3DPrinting #SovolSV08

Assembly is complete. Now waiting on a power cable to show up.
In true open source/China fashion, nobody at Sovol really looked at the instruction manual, so this is definitely not a printer for the uninitiated. They tell you to screw down one corner of the gantry, and then just kind of move on. They tell you to remove and replace the hotend to install the toolhead, but don't actually tell you how. They tell you how to cable manage some of the cables.
At least they did use different connectors for everything, so you probably won't hook up the hotend fan cable to the heater block. Not that I've ever done that. (That fan is permanently running on old Ender 3/Ender 5 models, so that was fun. If it had happened to me.)

Not to be a whiner, but obviously assembly starts from the base up. The base is in the bottom of the 45 lb box, so I have to put all this other stuff somewhere to get to it. #3DPrinting #SovolSV08

Hi, is anyone here using a #Ratrig #3dPrinter? I recently got an A1 mini to try the Bambu experience in await of their next big release but I’m reconsidering this now for … reasons. So I took a glance at Ratrig as they offer an IDEX upgrade. So my questions: do they work stable, can calibrate automatically and print without further fiddling once build and set up?
