My SV08 hot end had a major blockage today.
Is there a better option than buying a new one from sovol?
(I can probably harvest some parts from the old one, but it kept printing for 3 hours.....)
(The part cooling fan was crushed)

I’ve been off my #3dPrinting game. I had work travel, a shoulder injury, and started a new job so ability and free time has been very scarce.
But today, I’m changing over and the hot end of the #sv08 to a microswiss flow tech. The SOVOL nozzle system is definitely a weak point of this printer and the 1st party hardened steel was the worst “upgrade” I ever made to any printer.
Let’s see how ‘drop-in’ this new hot end is

While switching to mainline klipper on my #SV08 I did a test print without flashing the MCUs. It was interesting....

I had a big crash two days ago on the printer. My first crash that has dislodged the fan shroud on the #sv08. And the printer wouldn't boot.
After a few days trying to trouble shoot and install mainline klipper (around looking after kids, etc) and the step where I need to input the MCU and extra MCU tty ports into the config and I've only got 1 tty.
Oh, the crash pulled a cable partially out of the hotend.
That was a lot of effort for nothing.

Ok, so I've been poking around in the software. It's running debian bullseye 😭 and has a custom kernel installed for the Allwinner H616 chip.
I think the medium term solution to this madness is following the various guides online to get it running mainline klipper as they seem to use armbian images. I'd love to get nixos on it but not apparent chip support appears.

I bought a #Sovol #SV08 for multiple reasons that are still valid, it arrived yesterday, the ‚build’ was mostly easy, it‘s a fine machine, it’s large, fast and very loud, and I‘m really happy.
But dang, it is not a #prusa in so many ways I didn‘t know my #MK3 was a Prusa!
Still, it‘s amazing how far we got in about 7 years. -

This print is pretty okay. Bridging is not very good, but other than that it is satisfactory.
Literally the only thing I changed from the stock profile was the bed temperature. It wanted to print at 55 C and that print just came off the bed on the second layer.
-
Second print attempt on the SV08. It's made it past the second layer, so that's nice.
I have no idea if Sovol actually contributed the Orca profiles, but it's always a bad experience when they don't work.

So I’m having a bit of a #3dPrinting conundrum.
I swapped out my #SV08 nozzle assembly for the SOVOL hardened steel model. I’ve run hardened steel for years on other printer - just up the printing temp by 5c and go.
SOVOL recommends printing PLA at 245, which seems way hot. At that temp I’m getting charred spots but it is printing relatively normally. At the top end of the material (230c), the 0.6 line width is printing closer to 0.45mm, so massive under extrusion.
Thoughts?
