I think I might have been the last person to discover there's a #solar #eclipse today. 🤦🏼 Fortunately, I have a #3DPrinter, so I knocked up a pinhole camera so that we can see the eclipse safely.

@dendrobatus_azureus @rl_dane & the cost depends on economic & socio demographics of the area for instance china & Czech are cheaper then American made that’s why a cubic meter build size #3DPrinter is double the cost if #madeInAmerica while countries like #china #southkorea & Czech are half the price of American

Bit of a game for #ThinkPadThursday. I have a #3DPrinter and made a few things. Can you guess what these four objects are for?

Just remembered the Z-Hop* setting in #Cura. Now my C64 keyboard dust cover should hopefully print without incident. :D
* Causes the print head to jump up whenever moving over a printed layer to prevent the print head from snagging the part being printed and yanking it off the build surface (print/print head collision)

I need assistance with a #Creality K2 Plus, unblocking the nozzle and checking out why the cutter isn't cutting. I have watched several videos about the disassembly, but the one thing none of them tell you is how to get the head into the centered maintenance position in the first place... #3dprinter

So far I've greased my MK4S' and Mini+'s axis rods with a q-tip, which is a bit annoying as there's always possibility of getting some on the belts in the X-axis.
So I made this simple tool. It can do both sides of the rod without making a mess. Just put a tiny amount of grease on both sides of this hook, push it against the rod and move sideways, then pull and do the other side. Takes just seconds compared to messing around with a q-tip.
I'll probably make a larger version for the Z-axis too in the near future, I'll probably add it under the same item as this 8mm version.
EDIT: Now there's the 10mm version as well.

I ditched the rest 3rd gen Ubiquiti cameras from my arcade installation, which left me with these G3 Flexes. This means my Snapmaker got an upgrade and MK4S finally got its own camera.
I've strongly preferred having my printers with the NVR as often having the possibility to rewind back in time is more important than seeing what's going on right now.
First the Snapmaker. I quickly modelled the arc-like attachment, which is a simplified version of Ubiquiti original one. This one attaches to the aluminum profile of which the enclosure is made, just one screw and it's there.

This way of #printing #homemade #pcb s with the #3Dprinter is very fiddly and unreliable. And also time consuming...
I should really try using the #tonertransfer method, but last time I tried I obtained very bad results...

'k so
new #3dPrinter shouldn't live on my desk, it toooo biiiiig and leaves no place for smol printer.
i don't have a good spot for it so i'm thinking:
steel cart that can also carry solar battery for portable printing joy
i found one rated 470lbs at home depot, where i can get free shit thanks to credit union rewards
it has a 20"x24" solid top shelf, a steel basket, and a steel wire bottom shelf, each rated >150lbs. i want to put the 75lb battery on the bottom shelf, the 60lb printer on top, and use the basket for supplies.
I like the supplies basket idea but could ditch it and shorten the cart if needed.
this seems safe to me. decent edge margins, bottom-heavy, well under rated load.
Am I missing anything?

#3Dprinter #Update - Hotend had plastic everywhere. It's not damaged, but I need to figure out how to clean it up. Short story is I bought another hotend. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
On the bright side, I learned that my money-saving 3D printer refurb is missing screws and wasn't properly put together. Either that, or parts simply fall off after light use. Hmmm.

In case you're curious, here's a short clip of the Prusa camera in action. It's exposed as a RTSP source to LAN, I have a script that uses mpv to view all my 3D printer cameras in my workspace.

If I didn't know, I'd think there's something very wrong here.
Core One's print head homing sequence.

Trouble in the Prusa paradise. I started my first ASA print and maybe 10 minutes in I get a fan error message. I copied this custom ASA profile from MK4S where it has worked fine for couple of spools.
The error persisted and I visually inspected the fan, it spins just fine. So what gives?
Looking at the telemetry the fan is supposed to run at 200-300rpm at the 12% setting. Am I hitting some kind of a lower threshold? For the laughs I bumped the setting to 20% and I've now printed for an hour.
Weird thing is that MK4S and Core One have AFAIK the same fan and probably similar control for it.
We'll see what happens.

Here's how Prusa Core One L's print bed looks from below. It now has extra fans there to take heat from the bed and spread it over the chamber.

Oh, this was a good find. I had forgotten about reading that there's a nozzle quick swap tool for Core-series, I printed one out and the nozzle was in and out in 30 seconds, most of it wondering if I'm doing it right. I only now learned something like this was also for the MK4S, not that I need to replace its nozzle often but going to long way was painful enough once.
Technically the quick swap tool grabs the heating block and keeps it in place while you just drop the nozzle and whole tubing out, screw the new one in and that's it.
The high flow nozzle goes in my big pile of "nozzles I'll probably never need".
Here's the tool:

Finally got around to do a bit more with the new Core One L than just to print a quick test print.
First thing was to get its integrated camera working. I have camera in all of my printers, the Flsun has its own, but for the rest I've just thrown in whatever old security camera I've had around to get RTSP feed out of them.
Core One L comes with a freebie of Prusa's Buddycam and seeing how there was an USB C cable hanging from where it's supposed to be, this thing was not as integrated as I had assumed.
First of all: If I'd have to guess, it's just a normal WiFi-camera that has been liberated of its original casing and it now has a 3D printed one that fits exactly the upper left front corner of the Core One's chassis.
I could not see the pairing button when this thing was mounted, so I had to get it back on the table and run it off my laptop's charger.

Hey #3dprinting people! Is someone around here thinking about the #sovolm1d? I'm currently looking for a new printer and this one is at the top of my list. I want to have full access to the software side, #opensource is very much welcome ❤️

Decided to move the 3d printer from the garage to an attachment shed. Think it's going to work out nicely!
