I finally parametrized my rotating-heddle frame loom on Thingiverse so that I could make it an arbitrary size. So now I have a mini bracelet loom :)

Guten Morgen ☕ nur kurz... vor zwei Jahren etwa habe ich mir ein Lasergehäuse mit Abluftpumpe und Schlauch selbst gebaut - weil diese Dinger so teuflisch teuer sind. Die meiste Zeit hatte ich den Deckel unten und irgend welchen Kram oben drauf auf den Klappen abgelagert...
Vorige Woche verstarb der Treiber für den y-Motor und ich musste feststellen, dass es die Platine nicht mehr als Ersatzteil gab. Ich fand nur noch Borken in Russland aber diese Teile sind unerreichbar. Glücklicherweise fand ich von einem ähnlichen Gerät über Kleinanzeigen eine Steuerplatine, die ich anpassen konnte... ein Versuch war es wert 😔

Jetzt kommt aber der Knaller, warum die Platine wahrscheinlich gestorben ist. Seht euch mal das zweite Bild an....

I made some "experimental" rulers to give one of my favorite YouTubers, Dave Picciuto, when I see him next week. He is a woodworker/maker/artist and played a big part in helping me see myself as an artist.

My favorite quote of his is "Rule 4: Consider everything an experiment" (from Corita Kent's 10 Rules). So I made these 4-inch rulers from two materials Dave likes to use in his projects: orange acrylic and (fake) walnut.

Recently, we helped out our neighbors from the Spectrum Maker Space. They had sourced a special rubber material to laser-cut a custom stamp, with the housing to be 3D printed on top of that.
The result is really nice and we are thinking now to make also custom stamps with our own Logo.

More work from my Final Major Project at Arts University Plymouth. These mesmerising pieces are made up of meticulously inlaid veneers of wood that are inserted into laser engraved plywood.

Each artwork was initially digitally drawn up by me over many many hours which then were transferred into a usable format to be laser engraved - which took another 5 and a half hours!

The work is greatly inspired by computer scientist/mathematician Craig S Kaplan (@csk) and his generative zellij work. My work displays that the algorithmic potential of Islamic Geometric Patterns and the time-tested traditions of woodcrafts can belong together in an artistic context.

Here are a few piece of my work towards my Final Major Project at university. Inspired by works by Dana Awartani, this work is the ultimate culmination of my time studying Craft/Materials at AUP in Plymouth and was displayed during the Graduate Summer Show last year.
