@selea @carapace i’m a huge fan of #SOVOL lately; they’re actually doing open source #3DPrinters correctly.
I have their SV08, which is a 3D printer hacker’s dream rig: everything on it works well enough, right out of the box, and most everything in the box is compatible with many of the Voron 2.4 modifications out there. https://www.sovol3d.com/products/sovol-sv08-3d-printer
The Sovol Zero is their take on the Voron 0.2 - I haven’t played with one of those but they seem to be well received by the community too. https://www.sovol3d.com/products/sovol-zero-3d-printer
I do however understand that a hackable printer may not be the ideal choice for a #hackerspace: there’s a lot of temptation to modify such a machine, and machine mods in a hackerspace often mean machines that just don’t work anymore, with a bonus side effect of members being angry with one another.

I've a somewhat bad luck with picking a brand that is highly recommended, even if they cost more at times compared to the competition, and end up discovering they're shitty literally so soon after my purchase.
That happened with #Anker 's #Eufy, and it happened with #BambuLabs. For the latter, it seems that they're continuing their bullshit crusade against people freaking owning their #3Dprinters they paid for - including by hunting down #FOSS devs/projects that allow people to print stuffs on their printers without being spied on by Bambu Labs.
Seriously, fuck these brands and vote with your wallet. Also, if you've always been paranoid of American brands, don't forget to do so with Chinese brands too. You're a fool if you a think they're any better.

MODIX has launched the MAMA-1000, a new large-format 3D printer with a 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 mm build volume. The system supports both filament and pellet extrusion for industrial prototyping, tooling and end-use parts. https://3dprint.com/325932/3d-printing-news-briefs-may-9-2026/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #3Dprinters

Outlawing #3Dprinters is not about #guns. It is about removing our right to #build and #repair.

I remember when my sister and me were in early elementary school... Kids with great imagination. We talked about the best Christmas gift and concluded we want "liquid plastic to make #toys of it".
Well, years later #3Dprinters became a thing. And few years ago I even use one. So were we prophets? :blobCat_giggle:
I'm kind of sad I am not a kid in current time, at least until I think about more dystopian today things.

Are there any good open hardware #3Dprinters out there? I heard bad things about #Prusa

3 #3Dprinters on the go in the doghouse! Prusa is on robot part, Elegoo neptune 3 a rubber/tpu lid, and the Qidi Q1 a part for my opengrid system. All fun in the #Doghouse

3D Printer Surveillance
New York is contemplating a bill that adds surveillance to 3D printers:
New York’s 20262027 executive budget bill (S.9005 / A.1... https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2026/02/3d-printer-surveillance.html#Uncategorized #surveillance #3dprinters #privacy #guns #laws

A dozen US states want to pass legislation to require blacklisting software installed on all #3Dprinters, ostensibly to stop people from printing parts for guns.
You can #3Dprint all or most of a working ghost-gun now, perhaps only needing a few untracked metal parts to make it more reliable and durable.
You can be sure, however, that if these bills are passed, they'll use the same system to block anyone printing whistles, too.

So I now have 6 Bambu Lab #3dPrinters. 2 P1S printers, and 4 A1Minis. Of those, 1 P1S is operating, and 3 of the A1Mini's are down for vairous issues. One of the latter may just need me to do a minor ajustment. One needs a new heating element or thermal couple (it's a set) and the other may end up needing a new extruder. (It ate it's own extrusion...)
I may have the parts to bring up the second P1S, but I need to clean up 'access' to it in any case.

What could cause a 3D printer to do this? Prints fine on a retry but has done this twice so far after a long pause between printings.

Hey! It worked! It printed a little #companioncube for my #mechanical #keyboard!
So, it seems the problem was indeed the #hotend #fan... A larger print will tell, but that's for tomorrow: it's late here in Italy, and I don't want to leave it running unattended during the night, I've read of #3Dprinters catching fire and burning down houses 😱

Look at Finland’s free (tax payer paid) sustainable #Library and #Maker space.
Has free study spaces, free #3DPrinters, #music and #recording studios, free games /gamer spaces.
Finland is also ranked #1 in happiest citizenry.https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT6s3tS4p/

From Prototyping to Production ⚙️ Originally used for rapid prototyping, #3Dprinting now enables the production of customised parts, tools, and even complex structures.
Endless Design Possibilities 🎨 #Designers and #engineers can experiment with new shapes and materials, making it possible to realise most ideas.
Cost Efficiency and Speed ⏱️ #3Dprinters reduce waste, shorten development cycles, and allow for on-demand production.

Currently got 2 #3Dprinters running... one printing a battery hatched back panel for the Uconsole and one doing a little functional thingumybob I whipped up in #FreeCAD.

Hey 3D printing people!
Did you know there is a Fediverse alternative to Printables, Makerworld and Thingiverse?
It's called Manyfold, you can find out more on its website:
You can follow the official account at:

Can someone recommend which Ender 3 printer to get? My kids and I are novices and are interested in getting involved with it. I know there are various versions and levels of this (3, 3 pro, v2, v2 neo, se...).
Looking for recommendations. Thanks!
