.. y luego me encontré con el trabajo de Jack Cheng (https://github.com/jackcheng/hp-p1102w-tahoe) quien se encargó de tomar el driver original de HP, y modificarlo para operar en las versiones mas recientes de #MacOS.
La instalación es muy sencilla, y funciona perfectamente.

Printers, they really are a relic of the past, but still needed. What's worse is that the ethernet port now disappeared and one needs to deal with the vendor's idiocy of mishandling wifi. The things (in general) only support 2.4GHz and #Epson specifically seems to be sensitive to what the channel number is. New routers can also operate on triple bandwidths with the same SSID, so the solution was to create an IOT guest network with only 2.4GHz with a different name. Now it connects and visible.

#Inkjet #cartridges suck and should be banned! Finally got some more paper for my #printer today but then the #cyan cartridge runs out of #ink, so I put in a new cartridge and guess what? The new one doesn’t work at all despite the printer saying the cartridge is full of ink. Like, I tried everything to fix it including reinserting the cartridge, doing the #nozzle check, cleaning the heads, performing a head realignment, restarting the printer, updating the #firmware, printing a cyan purge test page, none of that worked. The last two options I can think of are
1. Try using an official #Epson cartridge, since we’ve been using aftermarket cartridges for a while since the official ones are way #overpriced, but the aftermarket ones have been working fine up until now and if it doesn’t work, then that’s money on an #expensive Epson cartridge wasted.
Or
2. Just get rid of this #capitalist cartridge printer and buy a #tank one, because I’m done with printer companies locking us into #proprietary cartridges. I wanna be able to use whatever ink we buy without having crappy #DRM. Plus this printer is now 10 years old anyways, it’s lasted surprisingly long and has outlasted very other printer we had, but this problem as well as the constant need to realign the heads to stop lines from going through the ink are signs it’s time to upgrade to a tank printer.I hope one day the governments of the world ban inkjet cartridges, because they are horrible for the #environment and are just here to keep prices up.
Pics attached of the #nozzles in case anyone can see what’s gone wrong, but I highly doubt there is anything that can be seen.

Наручные кварцевые часы не всегда имеют «дёргающуюся» секундную стрелку, а могут быть и с «плавным ходом». Если в старых механических часах менять износившийся «калибр» на кварцевый механизм, то можно поставить и с «плавным», и с «дискретным ходом». Ровно так же как и в настенных или настольных кварцевых часах.
Например, плавно движется секундная у механизма VH31 от компании Seiko/Epson/TMI.
Так же в модельном ряду механизмов «Sweep Second» есть и более сложные по функциональности: VH60/61/63/65/64/67/68/83/88 — например, такие как с хронографом, индикацией 24 часа, днём недели.
А по ценнику менее одного $ на AliExpress можно найти тот же SUNON SP68, аналог VH31, являющийся вариантом замены. Это простой вариант трёх стрелочника, без дополнительных функций, когда центральная секундная стрелка располагается на той же оси, что и часовая с минутной.
Какая «расплата» за плавность хода?
Если взять одну и ту же батарейку, то механизму VH31 заряда хватит на два года, а другие отработают порядка трёх лет. При «плавном ходе» в настенных часах механизм толкает секундную стрелку шесть или восемь раз в секунду. У механизма VH31 стрелка движется с шагом в четверть секунды (¼), напоминая древние механические часы имевшие 14'400 полуколебаний/час.
У того же «Восток» продукция имеет 19'800 полуколебаний и это считается весьма низкой частотой, как оно влияет на точность хода и надёжность.
Именование производителя механизма указывается по разному, зачастую в зависимости от ситуации и контекста, потому и через наклонную черту («Seiko/Epson/TMI»). Появился VH31 недавно, по меркам часового мира — в 2016 году и моделей часов ещё не особо много. По ценнику встречаются и те, что $50...90 — в той ценовой категории, в которой и большинство моделей Casio.
Этот механизм потенциально ставить можно почти в любой корпус уже имеющихся часов. Не важно каких — механических в прошлом или же изначально кварцевых. Кольцо крепления механизма не обязательно выполнять из латуни на фрезерном станке. Точить надфилем с лобзиком из пластика или печатать на 3D-принтере. Вполне реально использовать и пластичные смеси твердеющие со временем («воздушный пластилин»). Отлить из смолы отверждаемой ультрафиолетом (один из вариантов эпоксидной смолы), да хоть из «холодной сварки» слепить заполняя пустоты.
Пример модификаций часов «под себя», когда меняется и механизм и циферблат со стрелками:
1) Dive Watch Build
2) VH31 / Miyota 2115 in NH35
В первом хорошо показано как устанавливаются стрелки и вообще выполняется работа с наручными часами — в напальчниках и с очисткой от пыли. Во втором, как можно укорачивать вал от «заводной» головки ставя механизм в корпус механических часов, изначально ориентированных на очень массовый «калибр» Seiko NH35.

The "internet" seems to like the Epson Perfection V600. Linux folks in particular seem to dig it. I like that Epson has native Linux support, AND that the software is actively maintained. Last version (including source code) published just this week. Managed to score a refurb direct from the OEM.
