Habe heute meine Bestellung bei Conrad.de erhalten. Mit dabei Druckerfarbe für knapp 3€/100 mL. Deutlich günstiger als vom Hersteller.
Warum geht das?
Habe damals mehr Geld ausgegeben und einen Epson EcoTank Drucker gekauft. D.h. es gibt dort Druckertanks, die ich einfach nachfüllen kann mit welcher Tinte ich auch immer will.
So will ich das. 😊
(Natürlich drauf achten, dass sie auch wirklich kompatibel ist.)
Dazu ist das Gerät voll kompatibel mit #linux: Drucken und Scannen geht übers WLAN einwandfrei bspw. über Okular und Skanpage.

Para la colección de reliquias: el manual original de la Epson Stylus Color 600, de 1998.
Imprimió miles de páginas esa maquinita, conectada con puerto paralelo DB-25 a la compu, y con un conector que se llamaba Centronics, de 36 pines.
No sabía lo que era el USB.
Tantas páginas, mitad ES, mitad PT, y creo que no ha sido leído por nadie 🤔
BTW, debe estar en una caja guardada ahce décadas... calculo que se habrán secado los cabezales 😅

Sweet Jesus, does the #Epson Scan 2 software for #Linux suck! When you select a directory, it appends "Dir" to the directory you've chosen. No way to undo it. My solution? I created the "Dir" directory in "Documents". And unlike the version for #windows, the output file is just "img.pdf" instead of "img<timestamp>.pdf".
It does, however, connect to my #scanner over #wifi , so...that's good, right?

Это классический матричный принтер Epson MX-80 F/T III. Он был первым принтером, который я купил, где-то в 1982 или в 1983 году, и стоил он мне гораздо больше, чем я мог себе позволить. Даже после того, как он перестал быть моим основным принтером — сначала его заменило невероятно громкое лепестковое печатающее устройство , а потом лазерный принтер Epson, который я «приобрёл» на своей должности составителя обзоров продуктов — он продолжал служить мне в нишевых ситуациях. Его основной задачей стала печать этикеток для моей библиотеки 35-миллиметровых цветных слайдов. У меня есть база данных, созданная на основе ПО Eagle компании Emerald Bay (это своего рода более удобная версия dBase), и мне было гораздо проще печатать этикетки программно на матричном принтере, чем возиться с листами этикеток на лазерном. Именно такой функциональности мне не хватает.

for a decade I used an #HPPrinter that now refuses to work. My wife got an #Epson ET-3850 which refuses to work of my Linux, cups or Gnome (not even printing test pages). I've run flatpak and have the scanner working but can't seem to get the #printer to go. Can I do anything? this is with #Guix.

The workflow i use might be interesting -
scan with xsane on Linux at 16 bits per channel/2400dpi (professional scanner). Usually greyscale though.Then to #GIMP and clean up then resize for Alamy stock & for Web.
Wonder if there’d be interest in videos about the clean-up process?

Tengo una #HP Laserjet P1102W desde hace muchos años. La usaba con mi MacbookPro sin problema. Quedó guardada porque llegó una #EPSON L3251. Al llegar mi nueva #MacMini M4 quise volver a usarla, pero resulta que HP ya no tiene drivers para #MacOS #Tahoe, ni para versiones anteriores.
Me puse a buscar como otros habían solucionado esta situación. Probé muchas maneras de volver a integrarla a mi entorno de productos #Apple, sin éxito.
Resignado, pensé en heredárla a la oficina, donde muchos usan #Windows (HP si tiene drivers para versiones 7 y posteriores).
.. y luego me encontré con el trabajo de Jack Cheng (https://github.com/jackcheng/hp-p1102w-tahoe) quien se encargó de tomar el driver original de HP, y modificarlo para operar en las versiones mas recientes de #MacOS.
La instalación es muy sencilla, y funciona perfectamente.

Printers, they really are a relic of the past, but still needed. What's worse is that the ethernet port now disappeared and one needs to deal with the vendor's idiocy of mishandling wifi. The things (in general) only support 2.4GHz and #Epson specifically seems to be sensitive to what the channel number is. New routers can also operate on triple bandwidths with the same SSID, so the solution was to create an IOT guest network with only 2.4GHz with a different name. Now it connects and visible.

#Inkjet #cartridges suck and should be banned! Finally got some more paper for my #printer today but then the #cyan cartridge runs out of #ink, so I put in a new cartridge and guess what? The new one doesn’t work at all despite the printer saying the cartridge is full of ink. Like, I tried everything to fix it including reinserting the cartridge, doing the #nozzle check, cleaning the heads, performing a head realignment, restarting the printer, updating the #firmware, printing a cyan purge test page, none of that worked. The last two options I can think of are
1. Try using an official #Epson cartridge, since we’ve been using aftermarket cartridges for a while since the official ones are way #overpriced, but the aftermarket ones have been working fine up until now and if it doesn’t work, then that’s money on an #expensive Epson cartridge wasted.
Or
2. Just get rid of this #capitalist cartridge printer and buy a #tank one, because I’m done with printer companies locking us into #proprietary cartridges. I wanna be able to use whatever ink we buy without having crappy #DRM. Plus this printer is now 10 years old anyways, it’s lasted surprisingly long and has outlasted very other printer we had, but this problem as well as the constant need to realign the heads to stop lines from going through the ink are signs it’s time to upgrade to a tank printer.I hope one day the governments of the world ban inkjet cartridges, because they are horrible for the #environment and are just here to keep prices up.
Pics attached of the #nozzles in case anyone can see what’s gone wrong, but I highly doubt there is anything that can be seen.
