An blunt advice for #3DPrinting:
If you want to diy, look into #Voron designs, RatRig, ProForge 300 and others.
HOWEVER if you just want a printer that works, from a company that won't fuck you over, buy a #Prusa. Period. Their attempts at OSI-non-compliant licenses are a piss in the ocean compared to what #BambuLab, #Creality, #FlashForge, #Elegoo, #Anycubic and even #Sovol have been done or are still doing (to be fair, with Sovol it's mostly trashy customer support).

Is your Flashforge AD5X a brick waiting to happen? We’re diving deep into the silent V1/V2 hardware swap and the firmware updates causing the dreaded E0120 error. Don't let a "stable" update kill your machine. 🛠️📉

Today I decided I'd see if I can use #PrusaSlicer on my ancient #FlashForge Creator Pro. Got the hacks installed so it can spit out .x3g. Did a simple print of some action figure and it worked (but can't get supports off). Decide to try real model. Need to orient part face down. But it rotates all wonky. And rotation fields are all zero! Enter new rotation and it moves then zeros out the fields! #3DPrinting

This weekend’s projects:
1. Replace the PSU in the #Flashforge #Adventurer5M. The one it comes with has the fan going at all times, which is annoying. Meanwell makes a drop-in equivalent that… doesn’t. Unfortunately they tripled in price at some point.
2. Modify the Sunlu S2 dryer to hopefully be less noisy and not require the lid be propped open.
3. Install the #Microswiss Flowtech hotend on the #SovolSV08, if it shows up. The stock hotend is just ridiculous. A bunch of screws and thermal paste any time you want to change the nozzle? Might as well make me hot-tighten it, which I still have never done successfully. I’d rather have an E3D Revo solution rather than another standard but whatever. -

Uhhhhhh does anyone have the 4-color new flash forge model and hate it? Please try to talk me out of buying it. I don’t need it. I don’t. I don’t!
My one-color OG is perfect. Why do I need 4?! 😅
I’m not going to get it. I’m not. Tell me why tho, just in case. 🫣

Bought some #RapidPETG from #Elegoo on #Amazon and I’m having a hell of a time getting things to #Print well… I’m still new enough to #3DPrinting that I don’t know the technical terms or reasons, but it looks like #Boogers forming on the #Nozzle.
-
I did a small Upgrade as i'm Not patient enough 🤓 i print now on a #Flashforge adventurer 5m pro!
-
My First try was a fail, but my second one was full success! This was printed in a #flashforge adventurer 3. Quite slow and Limited in sitze, but good to train with! #3dprint
-
My conclusions are:
* No, “rapid" variants of filaments are not just marketing
* Orcaslicer somehow calculates flow rates differently than Bambu Studio
* Maybe just don't use regular Polymaker PETGElegoo Rapid PETG is advertised to work at <600 mm/s, and the defaults in Orcaslicer top out at 300 mm/s no matter what, so i guess that's why it worked fairly okay without me having to do anything.
-
I’m trying to avoid having to manage multiple print profiles, but if I simply change the volumetric flow limit for the filament, the entire print ends up taking twice as long compared to the Bambu. #3DPrinting #Flashforge #AD5M
-
Same problem as always. Well, multiple problems, but the main one is that the infill is trying to print way too fast, doesn't stick, and will eventually cause a failure if left to go on.
Comparing slicer previews shows that although both are supposedly limited to 8 mm^3/s, Bambu Studio is calling for 40 mm/s while Orca Slicer is calling for 80 mm/s. #3DPrinting #Flashforge #AD5M
-
Alright, it is time once again to attempt to print with the #Flashforge #AD5M. This time with the lid off, because I think the chamber is getting too hot.
What an absolute waste of time and money the enclosure kit will have been if it is really the problem. #3DPrinting
-
…or not. Ran a longer print which maybe got an hour in and then started failing again in the exact same way.
Starting to think the enclosure is too hot. #Polymaker #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting
-
Well at long last I got #Polymaker PETG printing on the #Flashforge #AD5M. By limiting flow to 4 mm^3/s.
It prints adequately, by which I mean filament mostly stays where it was laid and the nozzle doesn't collect a ton of goop. For as loud as the machine is, it really doesn't do a great job of cooling.
My A1 will supposedly do 4 times the flow, though that doesn't translate into printing in 1/4 the time.
-
More thoughts:
* Heater does not keep up with how fast the printer wants to go
* Cooling does not keep up with how fast the printer wants to go
* You *think* flow calibration on other printers is a waste of time/filament, but the results are noticeably better on such printers without me having to do anything. Relevant if you want to use random spools of pricy filament.
* Incredibly loud -
Upon reflection, I think there is an argument that could be made that this is simpler for someone who has never used a printer before.
The PTFE tube is only lightly attached, so there’s no coupler to deal with. It’s not *that* anjoying, though I expect I will install a cutter at some point. #Flashforge #AD5M #3DPrinting
-
I’ve been doing some research and apparently the filament unload procedure on the #Flashforge Adventurer 5M involves removing the PTFE tube at the hotend and cutting the filament.
Why can’t the extruder just be run backwards like on every other printer? #3DPrinting
-
Nope, it got maybe ten layers up, then started spinning the middle part around instead of it staying stuck. Going to try some other tips, maybe slow the speed and make it even thinner... Before it decided to just stop mid print the last time, it was adhering fine, so why is it suddenly not 😭
-
The time lapse camera on my new #Creality K1C is awesome! Coming from a 10-year-old #Flashforge #3DPrinter it is crazy how far things have progressed.
The print speed is soooo much faster too. This print had an estimated time of over 10 hours on my old machine. The new machine printed it in 2h48m!
-
And then after printing this fidget cube mesh I downloaded for 3 hours no problem, my #flashforge Adventurer 5m just suddenly decided to stop with no error message or anything, nothing was happening so I clicked "pause" and now it's just Frozen on this paused screen with nothing clickable.
f*** technology man every time I start to have a little bit of fun it all just f****** breaks
-
The plan was to use the new #3dprinter to make figurines for me to paint, but so far everything we've printed with the standard pla spools I bought are so pretty that it feels like a shame to paint over them...
(I did get some plain white and black filament to use eventually, but all the other colors have such a lovely ✨sparkle✨ build in ♥️)
It's a #flashforge Adventurer 5m by the way. Every time I mention we bought a 3D printer finally, people ask what kind it is 😂
-
We're FINALLY setting up the #flashforge #adventure5m #3dprinter I bought on sale over a month ago... I'm enlisting my husband's help because he's used 3d printers at his job a lot ago he at least has some idea what he's doing 😏 hopefully within the hour I'll be downloading test files online to start practicing my first ever 3d prints!
-
I just ordered this magnetic build plate upgrade for my #Flashforge Creator Max #3DPrinter from #Aliexpress. I was going on there to order a pack of build tape when I found this. I'm super excited to see how well it works because I am trying to lengthen this printer's life.
There was an aftermarket version with a PEI plate which I definitely considered, but I decided on this route since it is a genuine upgrade kit.

Just for fun.... 4 different size #3DBenchy #BenchyBoat #benchy3d
The blue one is 200% larger, I printed the red one years ago, and don't remember how much larger it is. The multi-colored benchy is normal/original size, and the black benchy is half the original size. The 3 were printed on my Anycubic Kobra 3 printer.
I'm not sure what the red was printed on, it could have been my flashforge or wanhao printer. -
