I guess I could share this one. They are building a post and beam #construction house like mine, but one floor. Much smaller overall. They're putting the roof up this week and will pour concrete tomorrow.

In the evening before the Pleiades night, I observed the partially covered sun setting very close by, behind the striking peak of the Donon. I determined my shooting position using photoephemeris.com.

Found a good vantage point nearby. Need to spend some time there when we get a really clear sunrise or sunset.
Telephoto adds a layer of challenge. Need to stabilize the tripod from tiny movements, 10 lb weight wasn’t enough. Harder to lock in manual focus on this lens vs my wide angles too, the wheel moves a bit too easily. Need to try to dial it in a bit better.

August 14th/15th - I set up a camera as usual, not sure if the cloud will clear or stay clear tonight. I screwed up the focussing on this one but, it shows the ridiculous number of satellites we already have along with an Aurora on the horizon.

Last night, to make the most of the combination of the still almost New Moon (only 5% illuminated), clear sky/weather, Milky Way alignment/visibility and still near-peak Perseids meteor shower (with ~50 per hour), I spent three hours alone in one of the darkest places within easy reach and with absolutely great views across a lake to boot...
Here's a short time lapse animation of the Milky Way rotating over the Alps near Füssen from around 23:30 - midnight... 290 frames, each 15 seconds exposure, ISO 6400, 18mm/f3.5.
(I'm not sure, but I might also have captured the ISS moving slowly from the top center towards bottom left... or maybe just some satellite?)
