  1. "To Look Out to the Beach, and Call it Home", I call this one. So often we make the ocean the subject of our photos, heedless of the also pleasant expanse to the back of us. I often wonder what it would be like to live in such a place, where the lush things grow, and the air pairs so well with a glass of wine and a roaring fire in the hearth...must be nice...

  3. Hi, these are the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater toots.

A quick reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.

The West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant's 7 day running average is higher. Looks like a (for now, modest) summer wave is upon us :( The last 7DRA calculation was on 8/11.

WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistica. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally). The Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at @WADeptHealth

  4. The latest jobs report for Washington state shows slight hiring growth and a dip in unemployment for the first time in more than a year and a half. Though unemployment in the state remains higher than the national average, labor economists called the news “bright” and credited World Cup-related hiring for the bump.

  10. In Seattle, ICE is kidnapping people at gunpoint on freeways, abandoning their vehicles.

It happened to someone at I-5 and 167.

    All of Western Washington
Parking lots, restaurants, schools, young people, mothers, children. Random brown people.

What is being done, beyond loud objections, to protect people?

We saw what happened in other blue states. You’ve had ample time to enact protective legislation and deploy your national guard.

    What the actual fuck?!
