  1. This 2nd 🏐 volleyball game at Wrigley Field 🏟️ between Mizzou & Nebraska is the strangest combination of slippery court logo stickers, leaf blowers, confounding outdoor terraplex surface dew, towel cleanup squad, player dance offs, dry-off delays, and well, ... joy. 💜

  6. But, hear me out. My congressional district under the new map gets a lot more of the “corn and cattle” crew. And this admin has NOT been good to them: Trade war, high fuel prices, betrayed on foreign wars… They are PISSED.

So, either go back to the old map where it’s a D, or do the new map and maybe the dilution backfires and we get two moderates. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  7. My state redrew congressional maps to severely dilute my metro’s influence on a typically Dem seat. They did this at the explicit request of the fascist in chief. This silliness went to our state’s bipartisan Supreme Court who said no. Now our state is asking the conservative rubber stamp Supreme Court to help. So much for this being a state’s rights issue that Republicans used to whine about.

  8. A new restaurant, Zen Bowls, opened down in Imperial, MO and it's fantastic. I had a chicken teriyaki bowl and Melissa two vegetable rolls. The cold pressed juice was also a nice touch though probably something I wouldn't splurge on every time. Highly recommended if you're in the area though.

I put a full description of both dishes in the alt text.

  14. Tom’s Hardware: Judge clears Nine PBS to retrieve 70 years of archival TV data — court rules station owns 50TB of data in Iron Mountain servers after host went under. “There’s light at the end of the tunnel for Nine PBS. We reported last week that the station lost access to 50TB of data representing 70 years of TV history. The issue was that its cloud storage provider went out of business […]

  15. Denver Post: 70 years of St. Louis history is stuck in a Denver data center, PBS station claims. “A St. Louis PBS station says its 70-year archive of programming is stuck in a Denver data center after a cloud storage company cut off the TV station’s access to the 50 terabytes of data this spring. Nine PBS filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Denver District Court seeking the safe return of the data, […]

  16. I've been kicking around the idea of a community built around belonging, curiosity, service, and genuine connection. A place where people can gather regularly, hear someone's story or learn something new, have thoughtful conversations over coffee, and build real friendships. Then once a month, instead of just talking about making our community better, we'd go volunteer or work on a local service project together.

Not a church. Not an anti-church. Not a political group.

Just neighbors creating the kind of community many of us wish we had.

Being based in Liberty, MO I've been calling the idea "Liberty Circle" because I love the symbolism of the circle. No one at the head. No one left outside. Just people coming together, making room for one another, and growing together.

Has anyone here been part of something like this? I'd love to hear what worked, what didn't, and what made people keep coming back.

  17. It is hot as 🤬 out. And our awesome CSA farmer is out doing deliveries. Thought we’d try and make her smile. She’s awesome.

If you aren’t part of a community supported agriculture scheme, it’s totally worth it.

  18. This poor guy is a long, long way away from home. He’s caused quite the stir in the birding community here in the KC area.

The Brown Booby is a mostly equatorial species, rare even in Florida and off the gulf coast. No legband so not an escapee…

It’s been suggested he came to support his team at the World Cup games going on here. I prefer that narrative to something more likely and darker.

  21. Hype for the Future 191A: Route 65 in Northern Missouri

Introduction Within the State of Missouri, Route 65 is a notable north-south highway through the west-central portion of the State and is largely rural, save for the communities around Springfield and Branson in the southern portion of the State. North of the Missouri River, notable communities include cities and villages such as Chillicothe, Princeton, and Trenton, each with unique characteristics that differentiate each municipality from the surrounding rural territories. Interestingly, […]

  22. A blight that has bedeviled Kinloch for seven years is finally shrinking. Over the past week, workers have begun gnawing at a 6-acre mountain of shingles and other solid waste.

It wasn't always like this. Two derelict buildings on the site began as schools: Kennedy Junior High and Kinloch Senior High. Later they served as City Hall and a community center.
