This week's primary elections on Tuesday are BIG. #Michigan, #Kansas, #Missouri, #Virginia and #Washington state all have federal primaries and Michigan and Kansas also have several statewide elections.
Michigan, always a bellwether state, has a democratic primary that is going to yield answers about the internal far-left vs center-left competition within the party.

Fellow Missourians... this is your reminder: Vote no on State amendments 4 and 5.
Don't make it easier for the Republican supermajority to ignore the will of the people, like they've tried to do repeatedly with right-to-work and local minimum wage increases.
And, obviously, don't make it easier for them to transfer our wealth to the billionaires by supercharging sales taxes.
Make a plan to vote today if you have early voting, or tomorrow if not. Cheers.

Denver Post: 70 years of St. Louis history is stuck in a Denver data center, PBS station claims. “A St. Louis PBS station says its 70-year archive of programming is stuck in a Denver data center after a cloud storage company cut off the TV station’s access to the 50 terabytes of data this spring. Nine PBS filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Denver District Court seeking the safe return of the data, […]

Early voted today in #Missouri! Monday is the last day for early voting and then polls are open 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. on August 4 (Election Day). I saw one turnout prediction of just under 30% which, given some of the crucial issues on the ballot, means we have some work to do on that participatory democracy thing.
In the meantime, it means that every vote is extra important! If you haven't voted, please vote and vote NO on Amendment 4 (which would make it virtually impossible to pass citizen ballot initiatives, while exempting the measures legislators put on the ballot from the same stringent requirements)
and vote NO on Amendment 5, which replaces the state income tax with higher sales taxes and new taxes on services. Most of us would pay *more* in taxes so the rich can pay less!

Missouri’s initiative petition process has long served as one of the ways people can shape public policy when statewide voters and the Missouri state legislature reach different conclusions.
It is part of the constitutional balance that ensures governing authority ultimately remains accountable to the people.
Amendment 4 would not eliminate that constitutional authority, but it would make exercising it nearly impossible.
Missouri is one of 26 states that uses a citizen-initiated ballot measure process.
And it is not the only state facing pushback from elected officials.
In South Dakota, North Dakota, Utah, and Idaho, legislators are trying to implement new requirements that would lessen the power of the citizen-led process -

I haven’t done a #BloomScrolling post in what feels like forever. I’m always in awe at the abuse blanketflowers put up with, and they just keep blooming.
These Gaillardia pulchella aka Indian blanket or firewheel are in a pot at the end of our driveway and about 5 ft beyond comfortable watering with the hose. I try to keep them watered but it’s pretty sparse.

This happened yesterday: people coming together from across the political spectrum to support the opening of a new library in a small rural Missouri town.

A reminder to #Missouri voters - this healthcare option brought to you by the citizen ballot initiative process, which Amendment 4 (on the August 4 primary ballot) is designed to effectively end. Vote NO on Amendment 4.
(Also, looking ahead to the November election, Vote NO on Amendment 3, which would reinstate Missouri's #abortion ban).
