A warm, funky, organic neo-soul record for the ages.
It fits right next to Deangelo’s Voodoo, & to be honest, it’s hard for me to hear THIS album without immediately wanting to put Voodoo on next.If you want total freedom in life, then you gotta leave a lot of shit behind.
How willing are you to let things go?
How free do you wanna be?These are the questions I was forced to think about when I first heard this record when I was 23 and living in NYC.
The bass and drums on this record will always be my favorite thing about it, ESPECIALLY the drums.
They’re kinda dusty, dull-edged, but still very dynamic and human sounding.
Just an incredible 72 minutes.

This #TreasureHuntTuesday I found a 7"x14" granite block for $3.85. A 6"x6" block costs $20 at the leather shop. It's used for tooling (engraving) leather. Also a really cool old painted glass & wood sign that said "Harry's private bar. Open 24/7" for $2.40. As an artist I saw how it could be repersonalized for someone else and now the human has a cool sign for her bar that looks like it was painted just for her. Looks even better than when Harry had it. #vintage #thrift #reuse #recycle

I decided to give this Sharp Pins record (which was in a used bin) a try, as over the last month, more than a few people told me I’d e joy it, and because I liked the small sample of stuff I tried online.
Really cool #lofi #indie #alternative pop that is a total “one man gang” effort by Chicago musician/artist Kai Slater.
This was recorded at both his home and personal studio in Chicago, and reminds me so much of the scruffy indie #90s music I grew up on, but there’s something extra here.
It’s also more jangly and #powerpop -ish than it is slacker rock. Along with the Sebadoh & Pavement vibes, there’s some Guided By Voices, some Beatles, even a little British Invasion shit.Really cool record. 💥
