This #TreasureHuntTuesday I found a 7"x14" granite block for $3.85. A 6"x6" block costs $20 at the leather shop. It's used for tooling (engraving) leather. Also a really cool old painted glass & wood sign that said "Harry's private bar. Open 24/7" for $2.40. As an artist I saw how it could be repersonalized for someone else and now the human has a cool sign for her bar that looks like it was painted just for her. Looks even better than when Harry had it. #vintage #thrift #reuse #recycle

Today, while downtown, I bought a bunch of great stuff. One of which was an upgrade copy of M’s New York, London, Paris, Munich album, which I’ve always had a very soft spot in my heart for.
Super clean, five bucks, deal.

I get it home, take it out, and find an odd surprise inside.

A DOUBLE SIDED nude poster of Marilyn Monroe, which obviously, did not originally come with New York, London, Paris, Munich.

It’s also more jangly and #powerpop -ish than it is slacker rock. Along with the Sebadoh & Pavement vibes, there’s some Guided By Voices, some Beatles, even a little British Invasion shit.

An unusually LATE late-night (or in this case EARLY MORNING) spin.

Been having real trouble sleeping the last few weeks (for reasons far too boring to get into here), so I’m continuing my “rediscovery” of the latter-day, more #ambient Sam Prekop records with The Sparrow.

There were only 700 vinyl copies of this record made; a very quiet, abstract, melodic album birthed from Prekop’s modular #synthesizer .
It’s reminiscent of Eno’s ambient albums in that it’s very warm & atmospheric, with no vocals, & more of a sense of sound and environment than traditional “songs”.

There’s only 5 songs, but the album’s opening title track clocks in at just over 17 minutes, setting a tone for a very inviting & gentle listening experience.

“Every Night” is my favorite track here, for HOW gentle it is, like a song from a child’s mobile.

Lately I've been bitching about the quality of the experience of shopping for clothes in Finland. This shop I can heartily recommend if you're into vintage vibes. They are a Dutch company and are reliable, fast and they make choosing the correct size easy. Also the quality of their clothes is always spot on. They are not the cheapest, but these are clothes you buy to last years and years.
