Just ran into some somewhat hilariously frustrating lore-appropriateness in #GuildWars
I was trying to put together a build for my warrior around "Dwarven Battle Stance". This is an elite warrior skill for fighting with hammers.
While very powerful, this needs some specific shenanigans around it and whichever way you go about out it, it's KINDA inescapable that you need "Friend of the Dwarves" skills to do it. It's just not great otherwise but this char doesn't have those yet

@massivelyop I genuinely do not know. All the ideas I have and wants I am wanting are absolutely correct and good. All MMOs should support a dueling system (not free for all but proper flagging and declining), all arenas should have a RA elimination mode ( #GuildWars players know), and we should be able to inspect players gear (to know what cosmetics they're wearing). Simple, smart stuff

It's hard to overstate how much I LOATHE walking to Drok's in #GuildWars
In no small part because of Dreadnought's Drift. "Oh so you're here with a reduced party? How about 3 enemy groups aggroing at once? there are 3 minion masters and 4 Mark of Protection monks between them and they'll camp the respawn point, LOL"
It's fucking peak Prophecies
These guys ended my walk, btw. I could not make it through the next bottleneck with 60% DP across the party because more Mark of Protection

Guild Wars is such a relaxing game! I used to play it a lot when it came out in like 2004 or something.
I've bought GW2 as well, but haven't played it as much.I really appreciate the lack of monthly subscription fees and I'd never pay monthly for any game, but with Guild Wars 1 & 2, that's luckily not a thing!
GW2 in comparison to GW1 feels a bit more overwhelming to me which makes me like GW1 more. There's just less stuff happening all the time at once.

Was excited for today's Daily Mission in #GuildWars for a long time. Chabek Village is probably the best one for getting Proofs for the anniversary event, and it's trivial do Master's in Hard Mode. So I just essentially autopiloted through it with all 11 of my chars.
Give me them proofs and give me them coins =3

Dang, yet another pretty huge #GuildWars update dropped. Bunch of balance changes, some really interesting, and a whole ass new dungeon that I kiiinda don't have the time to deal with until the Anniversary Event is done.
This one is going to be kinda huge, though, because it finally rewards a third Mesmer hero

@massivelyop it was difficult to be a high level shatter Mesmer in #GuildWars PvP. You had to have a really twitchy finger to be sure you interrupted a monk's heals just right

@massivelyop oh I absolutely LOVE multiclassing! It's so incredibly fun to mix and match your favorite skill types to create an entirely new class. Back in #GuildWars before Nightfall or even Factions, I played a War/necro and had so much fun stacking bleed, blood steal, and wounds on players. My own blackguard. I also really love systems that fully embrace the mix and define the it like #Archeage and I think even little #Ravendawn does. It's the best

I recently had nostalgic feelings for #guildWars (yes, the original one...).
Then I saw they made a big update some months ago for the 20th anniversary (with steam Deck and controller support, higher resolution etc) and long story short: I have it running over the Steam Deck on TV.
I am surprised how good it still works - the controls play like it was made for controller and the graphics also hold up well 🤩
The gameplay is also better to get back into than any other old #mmorpg I tried -

At the risk of sounding like a hustle-culture coach, #GuildWars just kinda showed me again how a good thing can become a crutch that limits you
I have a build using the skill "Searing Flames" that I kinda brainlessly slap on my elementalist NPCs. And SF just kinda works: spammable, deals TONS damage, simple. No questions asked, it's a great skill
But, for reasons, I wanted to use a different one and I'm in absolute love with the build that came out of it instead. Mind expanded, I guess =P
