Went into the city (#Toronto) to see favourite band (#rush) play last night, after waiting what seems like #forever. Had excellent dinner out with #friends before, a fantabulous rock show, then late night snack at Apache Burger in #etobicoke on the way home. #Traffic was kind, nothing broke down on the #subway. Forgot to pay for parking at the subway station - NO #ticket. All in all, one of those magical evenings where #everythingiscomingupMillhouse .

🇺🇸🗽 #NewYorkCity Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Kathy Hochul and the MTA have announced a feasibility study for a thermal energy network (TEN) at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall 4/5/6 and Chambers Street J/Z station complex in Lower #Manhattan. The project aims to reduce extreme heat on #subway platforms while capturing excess heat for use in nearby municipal buildings during winter.
Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall recorded average summer platform temperatures of 96°F in 2025, making it one of the subway system’s hottest stations. The study will assess whether radiant cooling and geothermal infrastructure can transfer excess heat into boreholes beneath Chambers Street’s disused centre platform for seasonal storage.
If geothermal use proves feasible, design work could begin in early 2027. The proposed system would be the first thermal energy network in a US #transit system and could improve passenger comfort, cut energy costs and strengthen climate resilience.
