In textual studies, a palimpsest (/ˈpælɪmpsɛst/) is a manuscript page, either from a scroll or a book, from which the text has been scraped or washed off in preparation for reuse[1] in the form of another document.[2] Parchment was made of lamb, calf, or goat skin and was expensive and not readily available, so, in the interest of economy, a page was often re-used by scraping off the previous writing. In colloquial usage, the term palimpsest is also used in architecture, archaeology and geomorphology to denote an object made or worked upon for one purpose and later reused for another; for example, a monumental brass on which the blank reverse side has been re-engraved.[3 — Wikipedia

  4. An icon as signage for:
    • Dripping cigarette?
    • Use fingers to catch ashes?

As always, icons perform better with text. Or context. If the container of liquid soap that's hidden behind the mirror were visible to the public, they would be more likely to understand that this icon means "soap dispenser".

“They are haunting reminders of a bygone age, some so faded the writing can hardly be deciphered, others still vivid reminders of the colour and variety that high streets once had.
Over [the 2023] Halloween weekend, Historic England [was] asking people to help record the “ghost signs” still to be found on buildings across England and send them in for an online map..."

  6. Ok, ok... I know that that sign does NOT mean "Leave your geezers in the forest".

But that's exactly the first thing I thought of.

  7. Wooo! Had a fun time yesterday bending for my sculpture. Here are some life priorities. Gonna make them spin round and round✨.
Everything but the frame was made with scraps that weren't straight and it went mostly swimmingly. Maybe I would remake MONEY, but I think it's nice. LOVE was made first try and weld free- love that Aquamarine.

    Good bending day!
