#Trump Slams #SupremeCourt Over #MailBallot Ruling
In a blistering attack on the court, President Trump said “these are not the people I interviewed” to serve as justices.
By Tyler Pager, Sept. 15, 2026
"President Trump on Tuesday assailed the Supreme Court’s decision to block his administration’s efforts to change #MailVoting and issued a blistering criticism of the three justices he appointed during his first term.
" 'These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court,' he wrote on social media, referring to Justices #AmyConeyBarrett, #BrettKavanaugh and #NeilGorsuch .
" 'They are merely a shell of their original selves, a Court that is costing the United States Trillions of Dollars with shockingly bad rulings that are of such magnitude that it won’t be easily possible for our Country to recover or heal.'
"The Supreme Court on Monday rejected an executive order by Mr. Trump that would have drastically changed how Americans vote by mail ahead of the midterm elections. Mr. Trump has long railed against #MailInVoting and suggested it is rife with cheating — even though he has voted by mail in recent elections."

Also worth asking whether the postmaster general will abide by the Court’s decision or whether the rampant uncertainties to this point have undermined the ability of the USPS to do what SCOTUS now requires of them. #uspol #elections2026 #democracy

Wel’ll take the win, obviously.
But, on the other hand, Trump’s bullshit crusade has already eroded trust in our elections and damaged our democracy as a result.
Many millions of USAians now believe that the will of the majority, our closest approximation of the common good, isn’t. #uspol #elections2026 #democracy

It’s election season…so please remember: “Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground…The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” — Frederick Douglass
Organize, mobilize, turn-out to vote - as hard as they may make it. Energize and educate your friend groups & sympathetic co-workers. Join a phone tree, knock on doors; these are the things that matter. In the next weeks, there will be very little more important that GETTING OUT THE VOTE. You can ignore red voters, don’t waste your efforts. If we turn-out OUR voters, we win. There *will* be an undervote by Republicans, so turning out our people will make the difference. #USPol #USPolitics #Elections2026

@jaykuo the question is not *should* they but will they have the spine?
If dems end up being ked by the same centrist gerontocrats, then nothing will happen.

Postal Service Rule Could Bar Millions From #VotingByMail
A judge temporarily blocked the agency from refusing to deliver ballots in #noncompliant states, which could disproportionately affect #Democrats and many battleground elections.
By Reid J. Epstein, Aug. 30, 2026
Excerpt: "Voting by mail would become much more difficult, if not impossible, for tens of millions of Americans if the #USPostalService is allowed to implement a restrictive rule governing mail voting that President Trump has demanded.
"The effects would likely be greater for #DemocraticVoters, who vote by mail in higher numbers than #Republicans, and in states where mail voting is universal or nearly so. #MailVoting may not happen at all in states that resist the #Trump administration’s demands for #VoterData .
"The rule would particularly affect people in #rural areas and #OlderVoters, who tend to cast ballots by mail in greater numbers. It could also deeply affect states where some of the most competitive races for House, Senate and governor will determine control of Congress and state governments.
" #Michigan, where 37 percent of votes were cast by mail in 2022, would be one epicenter, with hard-fought statewide contests and multiple battleground House races. #California, which mails ballots to all voters, is expected to be central to Democratic efforts to win a majority in the House.
"The rule is being challenged in several lawsuits, and it is on hold temporarily following a federal judge’s ruling on Thursday. The administration is appealing. Even if the Postal Service is permitted to proceed, it is unclear that it would have time to implement the plan ahead of an election that is fewer than 70 days away.
"For instance, the rule requires states to upload a list of voters to a federal mail ballot portal that is not yet online. Nearly two dozen Democratic-led states and #WashingtonDC , have sued to block the proposed rule and said they will not comply with it.
"If the agency were to move ahead, state and local officials would shoulder enormous costs in what would need to be a herculean effort to prepare election offices and educate voters in time for the midterm elections in November.
"The most dramatic aspect of the proposed rule is a plan to deny services for election mail entirely in states that do not turn over #VoterData, which federal officials say they want to use to identify noncitizens on state #VoterRolls. The policy would upend mail voting in any state that does not comply, but the effects would be measurably greater in the smaller number of states that rely heavily on mail voting.
"More than one in three Democrats voted by mail in 2024, compared with about one in four Republicans, according to estimates by the States United Democracy Center, which examined voting data in 32 states where it was available.
" 'It’s not that complicated,' said Marc Elias, the Democratic election lawyer, who said the new policy was a blatant effort to disenfranchise Democrats. 'The administration knows that Democrats are more likely to vote by mail than Republicans. Donald Trump has demonized voting by mail and made that differential even greater.' "

New Poll Shows #PeggyFlanagan Expanding Lead in #Minnesota Democratic #US #Senate Primary
by Levi Rickert July 30, 2026
"Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan ( #WhiteEarthOjibwe ) has expanded her lead in the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, according to a new survey released Wednesday by Public Policy Polling (PPP).
"The poll found Flanagan leading U.S. Rep. #AngieCraig 46% to 32% among likely Democratic primary voters, a 14-point margin that has doubled from the seven-point lead she held in a PPP survey conducted one month earlier.
"The survey comes with less than two weeks remaining before Minnesota Democrats choose their nominee in the #August11 #primary.
"According to the poll, Flanagan maintains a net favorability rating of +32 despite months of negative advertising aimed at her campaign. Her supporters argue that the results demonstrate Democratic voters remain firmly behind the lieutenant governor even after significant outside spending in the race.
"The Flanagan campaign and its allies contend that outside groups supporting Craig—including organizations backed by #cryptocurrency interests and a #TechnologyBillionaire with investments in #datacenters—have spent approximately $20 million on advertising in an effort to influence the primary."

#Maine - #WabanakiAlliance holds U.S. Senate candidate forum, participants discuss gaps in #IndigenousEducation
By Arianna Perdomo on April 20, 2026
"Democratic U.S. Senate candidates #DavidCostello and #GrahamPlatner outlined their positions on tribal sovereignty and education during a debate organized by the Wabanaki Alliance on April 16 on Indian Island in Old Town, which is home of the #PenobscotNation. The event was hosted by Penobscot Nation members and offered a chance to discuss non-partisan policy affecting #WabanakiNations and candidates’ plans to support those communities.
"Located less than 15 minutes from the #UniversityOfMaine, #IndianIsland sits along the #PenobscotRiver. This reservation serves as a cultural and historical center for the Penobscot people. Within the community there are buildings and museums that reflect ongoing preservation efforts of Wabanaki culture. According to the Wabanaki Alliance, the Penobscot Nation is one of the oldest continuous governments in the world and remains committed to protecting territories, culture and language as a federally recognized #SovereignNation.
"The debate was moderated by Dr. #DarrenRanco, chair of the #NativeAmerican programs at #UMaine. Notably, Democratic candidate Gov. #JanetMills and five-term Republican candidate Sen. #SusanCollins were extended invitations to participate, but were not in attendance. However, Costello and Platner offered insight on their approach to ongoing issues facing Wabanaki nations.
"Opening remarks were delivered by #MaulianBryant, executive director of the Wabanaki Alliance and Chief of the Penobscot Indian Nation, #KirkFrancis. Each candidate then gave a five minute opening introduction explaining why they are running.
"The first round of the debate consisted of eight questions surrounding topics of tribal sovereignty, environmental justice, regulation and the implementation of legislation that would help address these issues. Costello and Platner agreed that there needs to be a restructuring of the government and a new balance of power. Both candidates stated that they would support legislation that helped extend the power to engage the Wabanaki people in issues that are important to them."

Dems in #Maine’s #2ndDistrict race tackle #tribal topics in #PresqueIsleME
By Cameron Levasseur, May 13, 2026
"The four Democrats competing in a June primary to face former Gov. #PaulLePage for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District met Wednesday night in Presque Isle at a forum put on by the #WabanakiAlliance to discuss tribal sovereignty and other issues facing the state’s native population.
"Hosted by the #MikmaqNation, one of Maine’s four #WabanakiNations, the event lasted two hours and covered a broad range of topics, from #WaterRights to gaming legislation to the teaching of #NativeHistory in Maine’s schools.
"The candidates — State Auditor #MattDunlap, state Sen. #JoeBaldacci, former political operative #JordanWood and social worker #PaigeLoud — agreed on nearly everything, chiefly in their wholehearted support of #TribalSovereignty.
"#Sovereignty has dominated the political conversation around Maine’s tribes for years, with majority support for its expansion in the state legislature countered by opposition from the state’s executive leaders, including LePage and then Gov. #JanetMills.
" 'Only when I worked on these issues federally … did I understand how wrong Maine has been to its tribes and the need to rectify that #injustice,' Wood said.
If elected, all four said they would reintroduce a 2022 bill put forth by U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, to amend the #MaineIndianClaimsSettlementAct of 1980 and give the Wabanaki the same rights under federal law as the 570 #FederallyRecognizedTribes.
"Golden currently represents the 2nd District but abruptly announced last fall that he would not seek reelection. His bill failed in the Senate after it was blocked by Sen. #AngusKing, another Maine politician who has expressed skepticism at tribal rights expansions."Archived version:
