#Prav started working as a #cooperative since #PravConf (two weeks already). We were working on the bye-laws and looking for people willing to join as members for over 2 years already.
Now we have https://prav.app/coop/ which lists the Office bearers, Board of Directors and Members.
Board is elected by members for a two year term. So far we have #Dalits, #OBCs and #Christians in the board. Inviting #underrepresented to join as members and serve on the board.

Good news: languages that are more widespread have a higher complexity. This means that underserved languages are more likely to be learned well using a smaller corpus, which could help a bit with the rich-get-richer problem of LLMs and existing corpora.

A #British fashion and lifestyle magazine found itself in the middle of a #SocialMedia storm after introducing an #AI with an #Arabic name and appearance as their newest “editor” this week.
#SheerLuxe shared pictures of Reem, who they said was an “AI enhanced team member” on their #Instagram page in a post that included a “selfie” of the AI with the editor-in-chief, an outfit of the day snapshot complete tagged brandnames, Reem’s “lunch”, and a peek at the contents of “her” purse and desk setup.
The #OnlinePublication came under fierce #criticism from its audience, who questioned the ethics of “hiring” an #AIstaff member in a period when #journalists and other #MediaProfessionals face threats to their livelihoods due to the technology.
They also expressed frustration at what they said was a deliberate choice to use the name and likeness of a #WomanOfColour in an industry where they are already #underrepresented.

As a committee member, next January I'll take part in selecting 45% out of a few hundreds of projects, reviewing a couple tens myself.
How can I help promoting diversity? Any practical guide edited for committee members somewhere?
Being in France, I don't have info whether PI/participants belong to #underrepresented groups - such stats illegal here! - but of course M/F is easier to determine.
